They can't. They can legally do nothing until the GAO rules. They can't build sections, they can't release photos, nothing.

Next month. They have to rule by 100 days after the date it was filed.

May I ask why your reply to BigTrain was exactly the same as Zaphod's ?
That's a bit weird

Northrop winning bid is presumably the bottom one correct?

grey,
the upper image is remarkably similar to what I observed flying over last year, I posted a sketch of it on the weird cal sighting thread.

While talking about it with an aviation career friend of mine, I realized a small detail.
It was somewhat twitchy in its movements, even though it was on a straight level course, you could see it making small control changes, it wasn't smooth and fluid like an aircraft in the hands of an experienced pilot.
makes me think it was on auto or was autonomous.

Northrop buried Lockheed RCS wise on the B-2, as they did with the YF-23....The LRS-B contract was much closer, pretty much a coin toss if you will..

So it really came down to Northrops experience with other assets that are within the family that made the decision?

My 2 cents: Based on what I have heard, these renderings that "grey580" found are probably very close to the actual prototypes.

Thanks for the clarification. I downloaded that image a few days ago and was going to post it myself. Going off of what Zaph, etc had inferred about the Lockheed design's relative "sexiness" and "potential for cost overruns", as well as my own hunch that LockBo fielded a transonic/super cruising design while NorGrum fielded a high subsonic and highly stealthy craft, that upper design fitted all of my speculations about the LockBo design to a T.

I'm glad to hear that you also think so.

Yes the LocBoe design really looks like its been followed on from the Boom cancellation program.A total different lineage from the Sr71..

Based on my contacts: It simply was an industrial base decision, window-dressed as a competition.
