Okay, its time for Doom Porn:

YOU WILL ALLLL DIEEEEEEE!

Source: Any country with laws regulating weapon-purchase. We are all dead since, like, forever. And the British took over, like 200 years ago. Because there were no militia.

Obama is such a textbook manipulative psychopath with his forced tears.

How can people still fall for his bull#?

I just saw Amy Schumer was there also. Appropriately enough, she was sporting a Nazi Frau hairstyle.

Have you looked at Armslist? A lot of those postings are from gun dealers who require background checks. Other sellers require transactions to be handled by an FFL, while others may only require a valid state ID of the state the seller is in. The POTUS makes it sound like Phil Felon can go online an get an AR the next day. It just ain't true.

Phil Felon will still be able to buy what he needs from Craig Crackhead. Law abiding citizens will now be required to pay what amounts to a tax on private sells of firearms since the FFL requires a $25 to $40 fee.

Again, this is all feel good legislation to make it look like the POTUS and the Dems are doing something about gun violence.

With the insanely limited ability to track (essentially post arrest confessions)...they already tracked 4 firearms used in crimes to that site...and there are other sites and instances of online guns purchased without background checks. I am reluctant to list all the sites where people can and do buy firearms absent background check and often anonymously for obvious reasons, but having spent some time looking into it...they are out there and criminals can and do buy weapons online.

Hundreds of millions of households have guns in them. People with kids that respect firearms aren't the minority in my opinion.

How many households do you think there are in the USA?

You can't purchase any guns "on line " without an FFL involved, but you can make contacts through emails or phones and meet with buyers or sellers for a gun transaction. Here in Wi. you can use mwt.net and armslist to make contacts.

I agree with mental health checks because mass shooters are all bat crazy. I also agree with gun safety technology. I'm all for safety and I see no wrong in researching it. I know a family who has guns, loaded, all over their house and always has. The kids are taught to respect the gun, how to use it, etc. But they are the minority and there are plenty of families who hide their weapons from everyone, kids included, but even the ones who know about the gun still hurt themselves or their friends.

If only the mother of the Sandy Hook shooting had better gun safety technology, and a brain.

State reporting is incomplete, but last count I read was 110 children annually in the USA accidentally die via guns in the USA...and that is not counting survivors.

I know smart/safe gun owners and dumb ones. That and I read about dumb ones all the time.

They make a big deal about buying online, when that's not an issue at all. If you buy a brand new firearm online, it has to be sent to a Federal Firearm Licensed dealer, once that happens the FFL dealer runs the background check before you can leave the store with it.

As a source pointed out, expand the background checks enough and you have enough information to backdoor a registry. They already ask you at the doctor's office via Obamacare if you have a gun in the house; now your doc can report that info, but the IRS already has access to your medical records. Enough info there for the beginnings of a database of who does and does not have a firearm.

Once they know and have that registry, then confiscation for everyone or certain groups can be implemented at any time with little warning. It's too late and they can come and search and seize and if you don't have a gun or have one not registered ... Look out!

*Increase mental health treatment and reporting to the background check system*
Increasing mental health treatment is a plus, long as only doctors are able to say who is unfit to own a weapon.

See above.

*Shape the future of gun safety technology*
No one going trust "smart guns", technology can fail, plus that would open the door to allow the government to demand the right to disable the gun remotely once technology is available.

Or once smart guns are available, simply make all others illegal and couple that with your backdoor registry.

You can't buy a brand new gun online without going through a FFL dealer. You could always sell used guns locally without doing a background check, but if the government can prove you knew the person you sold it to wasn't allow to own a firearm, they can nail you for it.

I don't buy guns to resell them, i buy them for my own collection/personal use.

Correct. Craigslist doesn't sell anything either, it's just a clearing house for private transactions. In the case of guns, their are dedicated marketplaces that facilitate private guns transactions that are not subject to background checks...and no, you do not have to meet with the seller, you can have the guns shipped/mailed to you.

The whole speech was a bunch of fluff to obfuscate the only real change and violation of rights - doctors turning into informants.

What if Obama or some future president cries during a speech about how any people and children had their lives ruined by drugs and calls for a national list of drug abusers that doctors are required to inform on?

Would you anti-constitution quislings support that?

What if Obama or some future president decides women who had abortions are murderers who should be stigmatized and prosecuted and ordered a list of all abortion patients from doctors.

Would you anti-constitution quislings support that?

This is a silly argument IMO. If the gov decides to go to war with it's citizens, a registry is a mute point.

Is the thought that the government will round up guns? Rescind the 2nd amendment? It seems an appeal to paranoia IMO.

I don't care if the gov knows I own guns. I don't see any scenario where it matters unless I am using my guns in crimes. The gov going door to door confiscating guns? Paranoid fantasy...

Not so much paranoia, New Orleans taught us differently. They took guns from private owners holed up, but left the armed guards of the wealthy and private businesses alone despite a statement that only cops would be armed.

I wonder if the government will find a way to reward those doctors that turn people in. Some sort of financial benefit that would encourage more?

That was not the Fed...That was New Orleans Police Chief Eddie Compass giving verbal orders during Katrina. The Fed actually stepped in to halt the policy issuing an Injunction against the police chief...who was also corrupt and out of his depth. What you are citing is a case of the Fed defending gun owners against an encroachment on the 2nd. And it was forced evacuation...The order was no civilians carrying weapons during evacuation...and even then the Fed told him it was an unjust order.

Or some renegade health professional decides no one should have a gun! A person would spend a lot of money just to clear their name in order to pass a background check.

Also, if the doctor doesn't report and the patient kills someone or commits suicide, would they be held accountable? Could they be sued? If so, why would they give anyone a clean bill of mental health?

To make matters worse, the people who need the help won't for fear of having their guns taken away.

The point is that confiscation can and does happen.

And that Fed was not this one.
