Obama IS doing it !!!!

Ending the speculation.

L-O-L

President Barack Obama moved Monday to expand background checks to cover more guns sold at gun shows, online and anywhere else, aiming to curb a scourge of gun violence despite unyielding opposition to new gun laws in Congress.

"This is not going to solve every violent crime in this country," Obama said. Still, he added, "It will potentially save lives and spare families the pain of these extraordinary losses."

except for Chicago

What does the 2nd amendment state?

More importantly, how do you interpret the 2nd?

Do you think the 2nd gives the right to 'all' American citizens to own firearms, no exceptions?

What about convicted gang members and people who have been convicted of violent crimes? Does the 2nd (in your personal opinion) give them the right to bear arms?

Closing down private sales & gun show loopholes would obviously at least reduce the amount of guns on the black market, without effecting any "law abiding citizens" right to bear arms. Why would any rational person be against that?

I just find it fascinating how blatantly irrational usually seemingly intelligent people can be about this subject.

No such thing as a gun show loophole. That just shows how freaking clueless you really are on the subject. We should have the right to sell a firearm privately if we choose to. If the government can prove that you knew the person you sold the firearm is not allowed to own one, you can get in trouble for it. The government should stop being lazy and enforce the laws they have on the books already. The black market will have no problems at all finding enough guns, they can smuggle just about anything across the Mexico border.

What next, are were not allowed to pass down our firearms to family members without getting the government blessing first.

Gun grabbers always want gun owners to make a compromise. They never want to give us anything back. How about we take Suppressors off the NFA list. Lets help to protect gun owners ears while they fire a gun in a legal manner.

Which none of the 'mass shooter' used to get their weapons.

How They Got Their Guns

The vast majority of guns used in 15 recent mass shootings, including at least two of the guns used in the San Bernardino attack, were bought legally and with a federal background check.

There is not an ounce of 'intellectual honesty' in the Gunphobe in Chief.

Yeah, there most certainly is such a thing and organized criminals are obviously exploiting them as much as possible.

"shows how freaking clueless you really are on the subject"... right back at ya mate.

Prove it that more laws will prevent criminals from committing crimes with a gun.

It will be a staged event and scripted all the way from start to finsh.
the antigun people will be the public speaker types and long time anti gun advocates with notebooks of bogus polls and bogus facts they can quote.
Some will be black mothers that will try to tell how there sons (with long criminal records got shot down by members of gang while selling drug on another gangs turf ECT ECT) but they will not tell you about the last part, Just how there son got shot for ??nothing??.

The pro-gun people will be joe off the street with no facts or figures they can quote.
I even wonder if they will allow spokesman from the NRA or other pro gun groups into the building.

LOL

All that proves is that the U.S. has more criminals because of the laws.

The NRA is not pro gun. They are pro gun manufacturer.

They take the money of average people and use it to push the agendas of big firearm manufacturers.

Obama has helped the NRA by strengthening language in policies that protect intellectual rights and import/export rules that favor the manufacturers.

Prove it that more laws will prevent criminals from committing crimes with a gun.

California has officially launched its Armed Prohibited Persons System.
The once supported system is gaining negativity as its true intentions are being played out and acted upon in the name of safety.

The initial intent of the program was to disarm dangerous felons and people with serious mental illness but has since been modified.
The state of California has generalized these categories to include anyone who has committed a felony and anyone who has needed a psychiatrist or taken drugs that benefit your mental state.
They then took these generalizations one step further by including anyone involved in a domestic dispute and anyone convicted of a minor misdemeanor.

releasing a balloon on a beach could get your guns taken away its felony.
Maybe someone went through a rough time a few years back and had to take some anti-depressants – this could get your guns taken away.

Either way, gun confiscation has begun in California under the Armed Prohibited Persons System.

gun grabbers couldn’t proceed with their agenda by legally passing through congress.
Instead they are going to dwindle down the gun owner population until there’s not enough to fight back.

There not going door to door that would start a revolution ,there playing it smart just slowly picking off the guns one day at a time.....
They are a crystal ball into the future of what the feds intend for all of us.
Eventually only the true criminals will have guns and those criminals, many times, wear badges.

Be careful what you wish for. You can only take out so many before you are overcome by masses of people. I would never want to be in the middle of a mass riot, armed or not.

Delivering on its promise to deliver "common sense" gun control, the Obama administration on Monday finalized a rule that enables health care providers to report the names of mentally ill patients to an FBI firearms background check system.

The action was one of a series of steps that President Barack Obama had called for in January 2013 in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., shootings to curb gun violence, but the rule was not published until today.

Doctors can report some mentally ill patients to FBI under new gun control rule

From your link.

While the 1993 Brady law prohibits gun ownership by individuals who have been involuntarily committed, found incompetent to stand trial or otherwise deemed by a court to be a danger to themselves or others, federal health care privacy rules prohibited doctors and other providers from sharing information without the consent of their patients.

Under the rule, which takes effect next month, for the first time health providers can disclose the information to the background check system without legal repercussions.

So obviously this law only prohibits people from owning guns who are prone to violent acts due to there mental illness, or who are dangerously suicidal and/or are incapable of establishing what is reality, due to there mental illness.

Its not prohibiting people who simply have a history of depression and/or anxiety.

As a person who is personally prone to mental illness, I see no issue with this... If they where simply banning anyone from owning weapons who have ever been diagnosed with a mental illness, then that would obviously be a problem.

Again,

this will not stop criminals from committing crimes with guns.

Even Obama says it won't.

Your absolutely right... This particular law will probably do nothing to stop some crack dealing gang-banger from popping off a few rounds at one of there rivals.

But it probably will prevent a mentally disturbed individual from legally purchasing firearms, then going and randomly shooting people at a elementary school or movie theater.
