On January 1, the Chicago Tribune reported that the number of shooting victims in gun-controlled Chicago for 2015 was 2,986.
Mind you, Chicago has a “violence tax” that raises the price of every gun and bullet sold at retail, an “assault weapons” ban, limits on the number of gun stores and the locations of those stores, and what the New York Times describes as handgun restrictions that let city leaders “get as close as they could get legally to a ban without a ban.”
The result? According to the Chicago Tribune, there has been nearly 3,000 shooting victims in one year’s time.

Naturally, Obama wants to bring this success rate to the rest of the country.

I'd be willing to say that this is more about economic issues and education, as the OP indicated, than gun policy.
People that can easily pay the bills and put food on the table are less likely to commit crimes. More guns in the hands of people desperate to get by is not the answer. As we all know, if they wanted a firearm, they could get one anyway.
Chicago has 1.3 million people living in poverty. That is where we need to focus.

Sad stats.
Don't expect liberals to pay any attention to them. They'll just make excuses...or ignore them.
Let's address the issue. Bring ideas to the table.
Taking low-blows at your political adversaries does not produce results.

Gun control does not work, gun control kills.
How would you explain the criminal acts of big banks and their billion dollar schemes?

Blaming criminal activity on economic condition is a cop out. How would you explain the criminal acts of big banks and their billion dollar schemes?
Equating this violence with joblessness is just making excuses for the criminals. If you are hungry and need to turn to crime to solve the problem, you steel a loaf of bread, you don't shoot a six year old kid as his car drives by.
Are you suggesting that without Chicago's laws there would have been less murders?
