Massive big government social/economic/political failure in Chicago.

The totals are in for 2015.

Gun shootings close to 3,000 for the year.

The bastion of laws related to gun control have all failed.

The big crime areas seem to be expanding to around 2/3 of the City.

Police are overwhelmed and lately due to exposures, many police might be relaxing the efforts to curb gun violence before it happens.

Some people (according to private sources) are privately thinking the only solution now is a full-blown military expedition.

The big U.S. cities are failing and failing harder and faster.

What's the solution to all this insanity? Education?

Well "Education" in the big cities might be part of the problem.

2,986 Shooting Victims in Gun-Controlled Chicago During 2015

On January 1, the Chicago Tribune reported that the number of shooting victims in gun-controlled Chicago for 2015 was 2,986.

Mind you, Chicago has a “violence tax” that raises the price of every gun and bullet sold at retail, an “assault weapons” ban, limits on the number of gun stores and the locations of those stores, and what the New York Times describes as handgun restrictions that let city leaders “get as close as they could get legally to a ban without a ban.”

The result? According to the Chicago Tribune, there has been nearly 3,000 shooting victims in one year’s time.

Naturally, Obama wants to bring this success rate to the rest of the country.

Sad stats.
Don't expect liberals to pay any attention to them. They'll just make excuses...or ignore them.

I'm a liberal and I pay attention.

Now what?

I'd be willing to say that this is more about economic issues and education, as the OP indicated, than gun policy.

People that can easily pay the bills and put food on the table are less likely to commit crimes. More guns in the hands of people desperate to get by is not the answer. As we all know, if they wanted a firearm, they could get one anyway.

Chicago has 1.3 million people living in poverty. That is where we need to focus.

Obama does not create state or local policy in Illinois or Chicago. He also has not tried to implement anything similar nationwide.

Let's address the issue. Bring ideas to the table.

Taking low-blows at your political adversaries does not produce results.

Blaming criminal activity on economic condition is a cop out. How would you explain the criminal acts of big banks and their billion dollar schemes?

Equating this violence with joblessness is just making excuses for the criminals. If you are hungry and need to turn to crime to solve the problem, you steel a loaf of bread, you don't shoot a six year old kid as his car drives by.

Are you suggesting that without Chicago's laws there would have been less murders?

That seems a bit ludicrous.

I'd imagine it would be almost 30% higher without.

Not that it's at a good percentage as it is, just sayin'.

Greed.

That is quite different than crime of poverty.

The amount of people impoverished in Chicago, only a city, is almost half that of the entire population of the neighboring state of Iowa.

You don't see a problem there? Why would you steal a loaf of bread when you can kill someone for their gold chain, pawn it and feed yourself for a month?

Poverty is the issue.

You know I have to agree with this as well, I guess it is a bit complicated..

Are you interested in a solution, or is this just going to be another thread where we play the same ole game of political back and forth? This issue goes beyond politics, but I see that some cannot get past that.

Hypothetically speaking, Conducting a coup' against the MSM might help, since they are extremely liberal controlled and owned, and in the hip pocket of the WH to boot, and even with this, they don't offer any solutions or even suggestions except to suggest doubling down on Chicago style legislation, so after the coup of the MSM, the people could replace all the bias with balance and truth. Then their might be change for the better.

How to takeover the MSM? Can't say.
