I just feel like there is much more to this than what we are shown.

My thoughts also, while the Gorilla is clearly intelligent having learned sign, I doubt this is a message from the mind of the Gorilla

Koko has her own thoughts and feelings about things and probably watches t.v. So I think it's very possible she came to the realization that humans are destroying the planet.
Koko saying 'she is nature' rang true in my mind and spirit as she most likely has a deeper connection as an animal to Mother nature. Very interesting!

A lot of editing in that clip, Koko may be pissed about that.

What an intelligent, thoughtful gorilla. She could just be mimicking what she has been taught. Or copying someone outside of view. Why would they teach her "man stupid"? Or "Fix Earth"? Or "Help Earth"? Coco only knows what she has been taught so doing what she has been taught isn't like it is her thoughts. I just feel like there is much more to this than what we are shown.

Are all you know just what you've been taught? Do you not have intuition as well? I believe animals, especially higher animals such as primates have extremely sensitive intuition. They know the Earth is in trouble, they see it everywhere in the loss of animals and changes in the plant life and weather. Often they know far more than we do; our tendency towards logic always demands evidence and never relies on feeling. Feeling has kept these animals alive for millions of years, they certainly didn't think their way to their current state of evolution.

I think Koko knows the true state of the planet; badly polluted and losing species every day. Koko also knows man is the driver of this damage and it is up to him to stop it.

I chose my screen name for this very reason, because animals do have much to teach us.

The editing is probably because Koko needs to be asked questions , the video is a composite of the answers to questions asked.
Koko may or may not hold her own opinion but the message in the video is clear.

I agree and so too did some of our ancestors
Each creature has quality's we can learn from if we set aside our own "Human arrogance"

Loyalty / Dog
Scrutiny / Mouse
Intelligence and cunning / Raven and Crow etc etc

Humans may be the most dominant species but we are not so great as we would like to think

One of the biggest changes in modern society is no longer viewing nature as our teacher,
Instead it has become something to conquer, control and contain.
Our minds and mouths have become too busy to hear or see the messages nature has for us.
In forgetting who we share this planet with we have virtually sealed our own fate.

I so agree with you ... Humanity is generally in a state of disconnect with the Earth they walk upon
All scientific discovery and advancement requires the study of nature be it Earthly or Cosmic

What you say about our minds becoming too busy is so spot on
Sometimes we just need to shut up be quiet and let nature speak to us
As you say ... If we go on ignoring and abusing nature we are sealing our own fates

I'm guessing Paul the Psychic octopus is yesterdays news.

'Koko is sad, Koko will go sleep forever if Koko do not see winner of man game. Koko want to be with other Kokos.' This ball smells like fruit, I like this fruit.'

'And Koko predicts the Packers for the win!'

Idiots will do anything for a cheap thrill.

Based on how many humans are buying in to this crap, I'd say she's right.

They gave her a script. They admit it. "Bu..bu..bu..we let her IMPROVISE TOO!" doesn't make it her 'words'.

I agree with the person who trained the gorilla to say this.

Her natural way of communication is not as ours
Yet there are vids of Koko interacting with Humans where there is no script
Koko has only a basic set of signs that Humans have taught her
How much "Gorilla" do you understand ... not you personally

Koko thinks Humans are stupid perhaps for imprisoning her and that makes her sad because she should be in nature with her own kind who understand her
