Can we get the RECIPE please? Happy Anniversary!

Sorry guys was catching up, but then had to worry about the
snow coming...& it did come...all 3 feet of it...LOL!

The main road in front of me stays clean due to snow route.
I'm on a corner & the side road which has been scraped still
has too much packed & ice for me to get out. I will however
go & sweep the snow off the truck tomorrow as some of that
melted away today.
Hope everyone else fared well.

I missed so much here...alot of nice work by all!

Cheers
Ektar

monkey bread:

2 cans of biscuits. I used the grands flaky. Bigger, better, etc.. Cut each biscuit into halves or fourthes
1 stick of butter melted, toss the biscuits in the butter
1 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg and 3/4 cup chopped walnuts, tossed with the biscuits
Put it all into a bundt and bake on 350 for 40 mins (or until its brown/done)

To make a caramel sauce, in a sauce pan add:

1c brown sugar
1/2c half and half
tsp vanilla
1tbl butter
1 tsp salt

Simmer until it starts to thicken, then remove from heat and put into a jar, or a squirt bottle. When the monkey bread comes out, apply the caramel liberally to it before and after you take it out of the bundt to present

To make the cream cheese

1/2 block cream cheese
3/4 c powdered sugar
1/2 tsp almond extract

Mix until smooth, then put into a plastic bag. Snip the corner off and drizzle/squirt over the monkey bread

ETA: i should add, you can do this with yeast rolls, too. And its even more fantastic.

LOL, just omit the cinnamon. Still really good.

Or sub something. Like maybe some caramel in the mix, with some chopped apples (caramel apple monkey bread)? Or some dried cherries, a touch of brandy/rum/etc? How about replace the caramel with honey, and include some orange zest and top it with whipped cream?

The possibilities are limited by how twisted your imagination can be. LOL

Oh not this pussycat !

Anything that combines cinnamon, carmel sauce, and cream cheese icing is at the top of my must-make-this-weekend list !

Unfortunately, I don't have a bundt pan so I'm going to have to give BFFT's recipe a try in a standard 9x9 with the hopes that the carmel sauce will still make a nice deep pool at the bottom to avoid drying out the dough.

Ooey gooey pull apart mini cinnamon bun bits...

Nom nom nom.

In that case

Bacon monkey bread coming up
It's all a bit slow around here at the moment, which is a real shame because I'm still in the calm before the storm, talking of which we just got hit by the storm that gave your east coast such a hard time.

Not too bad down London way, but I think Gordi's getting hit pretty hard up north.

i've been wearing shorts for the last week, and no jacket in the mornings.

Today its cold and drizzling. By next week it'll probably be warm. Then a foot of ice one morning, and 90 degrees that afternoon. It's just the way it works here. We once had 18" of snow, then have it hit 90 the next day, and all of it melted before noon.

A bacon version would probably be good (although I know your half in jest). Especially with a home made chocolate sauce drizzled over it after its done. I've thought about how to do a s'more monkey bread (adding marshmallows and graham cracker, then a ganache drizzle at the end). I bet throwing bacon into that mix would be really good.

I trust BFFT implicitly, he's been nothing but i very fine friend for years.

I'll make the monkey bread for the lads at work, then once tasted I'll adjust it for me.

I see some new photos coming up in the Food Porn thread in the near future.

Augustus will be pleased

I'll mess around with the recipe, bound to find something I like

I'll be in the kitchen a while this weekend, I want to get some curries, spag bog, etc etc in the freezer for the times I won't have time to cook properly over the next months.

We're looking at selling the flat (apartment) as we've made a lot of money on it
And then buying our first real home together

(The wife and I.................... Not BFFT and I)

First priority ....... A garden so we can grow our own vegetables, then I guess a roof would be nice as well.

Heading into a potentially exciting time, and with the prices in South Africa early retirement is a real possibility.

So just another 15 years or so of hard slog to go LOL

Actually now that I think about, I'm going to wait until I pick myself up a bundt pan the next time I'm in the city (been meaning to buy one for the longest time anyway, so this gives me a good excuse).

Using a 9x9 pan would work, but it would make it a little more difficult to try to pull apart the small pieces with your fingers... the shape of the bundt pan allows you to pull off pieces nicely without making a big mess of the whole thing.

Thanks for the nummy share BFFT !

Although we can afford to move there and be mortgage free, with decent size house, granny flat, swimming pool and double garage. In a relatively safe area, and the cuddle monster could earn enough for both of us, we don't have enough left over for me to start a business (my only real option for work ATM)

We had a long conversation and have decided to wait and see how it pans out bro,

The earliest would be in 10 years, more likely 15, and don't worry, I'll be coming cap in hand for the 4 degree Stella long before then.

I may be a child in my heart, and it may be tempting, but I'm not as stupid as I used to be (Mostly)

Hi Ektar good to see you mate.

OK got the car back from the garage after 3 weeks, OUCH £1500 but the plus side was the owner is a conspiracy theorist and gave me all the parts at cost, and only charged me 4 1/2 hours labour.

Amazing what a conversation about conspiracy can achieve.

Saved me a small fortune LOL

ETA: Avatar related...

If anyone would like to take a shot at adding an ATS tattoo on my forearm, partially covered by my sleeve, I would be most appreciative. I'm no good at applying curves to images.
