No, the men in the Chinese restaurant are not racist.
If anything, I found it to be a sort of touching attempt by them to try to accommodate their guests during a holiday they don't celebrate. They do
their best to approximate the traditional meal, albeit with a duck with the head left on and they try their best to sing the traditional songs.
If anyone was sort of out of bounds, it was the mother who couldn't seem to restrain her reaction to seeing the head on the duck. That was rude, but
it did enhance the comedic value of the scene and likely would have been true to the reactions of someone during those times.
It was all in all pretty accurate probably and it was funny which was the most important part. Comedy isn't about being "nice," it's about being
funny, and sometimes, cultural stereotypes on all sides that we all recognize are the best ways to be funny and bring people together.
