I have a MUCH better idea. Let's make it a requirement that to be a presidential candidate you must have served at least 4 years in the U S military and have an honorable discharge. After all, the job also entails being the Commander In Chief.

Exactly. I don't know that the parliamentary system would be better, but it's hardly something novel and untried. Decidedly to its advantage is the fact it more easily enables the creation of third, or fourth or more, parties. With multiple parties, if one party doesn't get an outright majority, the party with the most votes has to compromise its positions to ally with one or more of the other parties. This tends to lessen the potential for intransigent positions.

The establishment GOP RINOs sure are upset that their boy Jeb(!) is about as popular with the voters as a used toilet brush, aren't they? Here's a suggestion: instead of trying to create a system that ensures a permanent ruling class of elites in both parties, maybe they should actually try listening to what their constituents want for a change.

Funny if we apply his standard the current president wouldn't ever have made it in, not sure who would fit his standards.

Neither Obama or Trump would have made / will make it into office if there was this additional qualification to run for President.

This is why we still have the best government money can buy. T Bone and his Saudi buddies Can have their Bush and eat it too.

And we have the best electorate money can buy.

The problem is EVERY ONE is for sale.

Politicians' and the People.

If people are so disgusted with Washington DC look no further than 'we the people'.

DC is a reflection of us.

Garbage in Garbage out.

All that would show is yet again that the POTUS can take orders from someone higher than them. The military is not known for encouraging "free thinking"

So you want the military in charge of the country rather than civilians?
