Travelling India by train, our friend and Aussie icon Dick Smith, had passed a homeless family living under a bridge, including a young girl
wearing nothing but a pink bracelet.
The girl’s parents had been living under the bridge for 12 years, and Divya had been born there just under the bridge without any medical
assistance. As the father was away at work (as a plasterer, earning $4-6/day, not enough to afford even a slum house while also caring for three kids)
we decided it was best to wait until the dad came home to discuss with the whole family to see if there was a way we could help.
Dick Smith is an Australian icon and has outdone himself this time with his generosity toward a family in abject poverty in India, our friends in
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and other wealthy nations should take note of what an impact a complete stranger can have on the poor of this world and
not waste their wealth on Gold Plated Cars and Palaces.
""Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead
spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could
explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.”
