depending upon who is talking casualties can have different meaning. civilians tend to use casualty means dead. The military does not use that definition for casualty. police might not either. dunno. military reports any injured as a casualty. i remember the term heat casualty being used for people who had heat exhaustion or heat stroke but were not dead.

Critical back to 6, police have information this was intentional. French Nationals seem to be among the victims as they sought French translators. That appears to be unrelated to the possible intent as of now.

On topic, it's sounding worse and worse for the driver. They are booking her but the police don't say on what charges. Driving up on the sidewalk, back onto the street and then back up on the sidewalk to hit two locations injuring so many and killing one so far, the notes I saw said police ruling out terrorism, they are looking into the possibility of an intentional act.

I do not know what set this chain of events in motion, but I hope that by the end of that chain, the driver of that car learns some harsh lessons about responsibility and culpability.
