Dr Rafa'ah al-Iyssaue, the director of the main hospital in Falujah states that out of the 700 bodies recovered by the Emergency Medical Team, 550 were of children and women. According the Al-Iussaue, these bodies were found in the rubble of houses and local village markets.

"It was really distressing picking up dead bodies from destroyed homes, especially children. It is the most depressing situation I have ever been in since the war started," Dr Rafa'ah al-Iyssaue, director of the main hospital in Fallujah city, some 60 km west of Baghdad, told IRIN.

According to al-Iyssaue, the hospital emergency team has recovered more than 700 bodies from rubble where houses and shops once stood, adding that more than 550 were women and children. He said a very small number of men were found in these places and most were elderly.

Doctors at the hospital claim that many bodies had been found in a mutilated condition, some without legs or arms. Two babies were found at their homes, who are believed to have died from malnutrition, according to a specialist at the hospital

Thank you George Bush. Would you like some euthanasia with your order of mass murder? We've seen stories like this throughout the Iraqi war. Our mass media tells us that we are thoroughly winning the war, Iraqi news sources tells the world that we are running away from insurgents with out 'tails between our legs'. Our mass media tells us that this has been a clean war without any senseless murder. Iraqi Media tells the world that US Soldiers are senseless murders that find joy in mutilating women and children.

Enough with media influences. If our media wants us to believe that this is a clean war with minimal casualties then why stop there? What War?

I really wish they would allow reporters full, unrestricted access to Fallujah so the world can see exactly what happened there.

When people see footage of bombs hitting buildings, some don't think of the people who were in those buildings when they were hit.

We need to get a good estimate on the total number of people who were killed there. The last figure I heard was 6,000 and that was weeks ago. There have been numerous air strikes since then.

This is the reality of war folks....regardless of how precise our weapons may be, occasionally they make a mistake....It's a sad day for those innocent victims, but this is (insert "my") war! And I'll find Osama and I'll smoke him out! Jesus loves you but he loves me more...God Bless America...

I laugh........ha ha...............

They say this country is in a period of change.....and I simply cannot believe the reasoning behind those who say this change is for the better....

I've heard of a mistake here...a mistake there....but things really have been getting quite sloppy lately (and I don't mean just during this war) - not to mention the embarrassment of the prison photos.....Don't get me wrong - I support our troops....or at least the ones who give a damn and have some self-respect....

Im not sure about reporters, however camera operators (If thats a little too PC for you then Cameramen) have been alongside American soldiers thoughout the conflict.

From the article, it seems that they may not have free reign.

Residents of Fallujah have been asking the Iraqi government to allow journalists and TV reporters to enter the city in order to show the reality.

The government will only allow journalists to visit with a special identity card, saying it is for their own safety. Many journalists have been turned away from Fallujah after not receiving authorisation from US-troops guarding the city.

"We need someone here to show the reality of Fallujah. Even when some journalists are here they are being followed by the Marines. We need someone to help us. The world should see the real picture of Fallujah," Sheikh Abbas al-Zubeiny told IRIN.

I cant wait to see the conservative spin put on this to justify it. I know its coming, cause Bush is greater than God and can do no wrong. He is the best thing to ever happen to the entire world!.........

this is the entire point of the terrorists hiding among the civilians........

did the US govmt not tell the civilians to get out to avoid being killed??

if someone told ME to get out of my city because they were getting ready to bomb............i would run for the hills to safety.

the "insurgents" have consistently hidden among the innocent, hidden weapons in schools and hospitals and used their places of worship to hide in............fully knowing that we would injure anyone in those places including the innocent.

this is their attempt to make the US look horrible...................which it is.

this is a war that we are waging and there will be massive casualities....and many will be innocents.

i don't like that either but don't blame the TROOPS...............

unfortunately we can't program a bomb to only hit the BAD GUYS...............and miss the innocents..............

now if we had THAT kind of technology THAT would be something!!

so would you prefer the US pull out altogether.............leaving the country as it is............and watch and wait for the next dictator to take over and then proceed to mass murder its citizens that speak out against him .........a dictator that would once again oppress freedom of speech, religion, democracy, women's rights.................

these innocents..........the ones that are grateful that the US is there helping them............they WILL have a chance for a better life.........a chance that would NEVER have happend with SADDHAM in control.

i do NOT condone WAR and the killing of innocents but we HAVE committed to this cause............and we have to see it through. we are fighting a terrible fight and we are fighting for the people that couldnt' fight for themselves.

but that's my opinion. i don't expect everyone to agree with me ......

angie

Guess what folks,

Our fascist neo-con regime in the white house will go to great lengths in covering up the truth in Iraq. In a seperate, yet chilling story of Military Doctor Closes Online War Diary

While no fan of Bush...

One should add, that these numbers are from ONE man, a Dr. and we do NOT know his political ideals, agenda, etc. nor why he stayed in Fallujah when the residents were warned to leave for their safety over the period of many days prior to the battle. I'd wait until we get some figures from the Red Crescent, etc. and the article also states that the Minister of Health is disputing that ratio.

Friends,
It's not pretty, but the truth is if it doesn't happen how it is now, what you'll be dealing with are the deaths of your own women and children on our own soil in 5 - 10 years. There is no good option. As harsh as it is, this war is an investment in our future security. Hiding your head in the sand will not make it go away.

You probably would, but if you lived there, one little problem would be the insurgents that would kill you and your family if you run for the hills. The civilians were held hostage, here in the US, cops don't shoot through the hostage to kill the suspect.

The problem is that you may be fighting Iraqis in the States in 5 or 10 years even though they had no intension of attacking prior to the war.

Some are already saying they will attack in the US.

Iraqi insurgents threaten attack inside United States
BAGHDAD - The Islamic Army in Iraq, one of the main armed groups fighting U.S. forces in the war-torn country, has threatened to carry out attacks inside the United States, according to a statement posted on a Web site yesterday....

....The mujahedeen "will take the battle from inside our country [Iraq] to yours," the statement said.

"We address you after you finished celebrating the new year, hoping that you are no longer drunk.... We will give American civilians a taste of what civilians in our country go through," said the statement, presented as a "message to the American people."

The statement, which described Americans as "uncivilized" and "ignorant," claimed that "the whole world" hates the United States.

"Are you aware that the number of those who support striking America on its own turf has greatly increased?" it said.

We are all well aware of the tens of thousands of innocents that have been killed.

Then we wonder why the war has not been one. I would say for every innocent killed you have at the minimum six family members who now want revenge. This war can never be won, we are the ones who create the militants and insurgents.

Ok, I guess they will swim accross the oceans on the backs of camels and hurdel homade rockets over the statue of Liberty? No one is hiding thier head in the sand. We should not have been there in the first place. We should have stayed in Afghanistan with the 150000 some odd troops that are in Iraq, untill OBL was caught. Iraq is not a threat to us, it has never been, and it will never be a threat to us.

Very true, but they are subject to military restrictions on what they can and cannot show, and what they can say.

If you actually watched any of the news prior to this attack, then you would know that some where UNABLE to leave, and not because they where being held hostage, but because they had nowhere to go, or where to frail or weak to make any sort of journey, and their family members stayed with them.

Also, imagine if an invading army surrounded your city, and told you to leave? Would you? I doubt it very much, you would stay and fight or protect your home!

Exactly. Originally, it was pretty much only Al Queda and a couple affiliates that wanted to attack us, now we have created several new groups that have vowed to see us fall, and we have created far more would be terrorists than we have killed, and we continue to create more. Great plan.

hhhmmm that is an excellent point. there WERE many civilians that were able to leave the city and passed thru our troops to relative safety....so not all of them were held hostage.........

i made my statements based on my thought that............they were given the opportunity to leave fallujah before the bombing commenced and they didn't.................i felt they took a huge gamble with their lives by not leaving...........and the gamble didn't pay off.

"Iraqi Media" is what exactly?
Link to any type article by the "Iraqi Media" eluding to what you have taken the liberty to assert here?
Please don't claim that the "Iraqi media" is foreign media, being that in the sentence prior, you state: "Our mass media..."
How about back this self-asserted claim also, k?

How about do all of us a favor and just report the facts. Your wild assertions and statements need to be backed. This is ATSNN, not 'a' regular forum topic thread.

Incidently, I noticed this mentioned in your article:

Doctors at the hospital claim that many bodies had been found in a mutilated condition, some without legs or arms. Two babies were found at their homes, who are believed to have died from malnutrition, according to a specialist at the hospital

Pray tell, how does this indicate or even provide the evidences that this was the doings of U.S soldiers? Link? You are aware that the so-called anti-war media has steadily failed to report that in Fallujah, there were found multiples and multiples of 'slaughter houses'. As such, being that there is lack of mention by you or anyone else in this thread, perhaps this is the work of those who took part in those slaughter houses? Is it because the above article uses words such as "destroyed houses"? Oh my....how sad. No mention anywhere in the article stating just when those bodies might have been placed or been in those "destroyed houses," just that they were found within them and that they were "mutilated". "Mutilated" then needs to be clarified as its meaning. Was it "mutilation" by inaccurate bombing, a artillery shell perhaps, tore off, cleaved off, etc.?

Yet again, the U.S. and its soldiers are again falsely claimed as to doings something that it may or may not have inadvertantly done? Has this article been validated? If so, it has been out-right proven that this was the work of the U.S. and its soldiers?

You then thank Bush?

Allow me to "thank you" for your continued slanting, as with the "mass media", on this matter. Fine work.
