I can definitely known "fake homeless people" as you call them in my time. Being homeless for an extended period of time myself, you tend to talk to
the others as well and get to know their stories. I don't blame some of them. I live in Maryland , and consistently everyday I would make between
90-$190 from just about 3-4 maybe 5 hours of flying my sign. Christmas and other holidays were the best. Few years ago on Christmas Day I stood out
there for 4 hours and made $403.
As for the fake ones, not only did they have a home to rest their heads at (their parents'), they even took it as far as to feign physical
disabilities whilst walking back and forth on the median strip. Some older black guy I knew was actually homeless and lived at the shelter down the
road, but he would be out there everyday and he put a rock inside his shoe so as to make him have a distinct limp while walking. I've seen people
shake like they have Parkinson's or something too, then be inside a fast food joint eating and carrying on perfectly stable, not a quiver to be seen
in their hands or elsewhere.
Being homeless for me was frustrating in the sense that people just assumed I was leeching off everyone and a no good addict or lazy POS bum. While I
was homeless, I had a part time job, not very good hours, but I strived to get better work and another job that was full time, I had bought my own car
, had it fixed up for inspection, and paid for insurance on it, ALL while homeless. Thank God for the people out there who care for their neighbors
and give to them no matter what they do with the money. I've been called so many names and had lots of things thrown at me out of cars before. Not
fun. When you're out there swallowing your pride on the side of the road or the median strip, you'd be surprised to see how many people really don't
have sympathy or the empathy available to give even $1 or 50¢, or anything really at all is what my point is. Once, a young black guy pulled up to me
, and emptied his whole wallet out and gave it to me $99.
There are good people out there.
Sorry to have derailed it by the way, just wanted to share my experience. But as for the topic, yes there are fake homeless people. I don't know what
you mean about them being "plants" though. Mainly they are just looking for a quick buck the easy way, with their cardboard credit card.
