What Winged Womat said except for the left-most aircraft in your goofle-earth shot. The shadow suggests it has a T-tail so it cannot be a Comet. The
problem is airliners aren't my home ground so I don't know of the top of my head what it is - chances are it is missing the engines though.
EDIT: Waynos, the location of your mystery plane was so so so so predictible. Here it is closer up. Mind you, Duxford (arguably the leading aviation
museum in UK) seems devoid of the usual line-up in the satalite image - I remember when a B-52 and Concorde were on the tarmac. Has Duxford gone to
the dogs????
Ahhhh I see it all now - including the F-15 just out of the original shot.
1. BAC 111
2. Trident
The pictures themselves are not particularly current. I downloaded google earth and looked at the place I used to live - and I was home !!!! (I have
a distinctively coloured ex-ambulance F100). It was also taken on a weekend (no cars at the nearby schools). So the shot is at least 12 months old
and not more than 5 years old.
99% wombat Yes, the BAC One Eleven is the first airliner not he second one and yes, its engines are in place, its unusual to see such slender
cowlings these days.
The one that eluded you was the FMA Pucara outside the hangar.
Planeman- all the other airfields I tried seemed to be in low res areas so I used this one as I already had it. The photo of Toulouse airport in
Paris is exceptionally clear as you can read the registration on the wing of a DC-10! Why can't it all be like that?
I find most of my bases using Scramble's lat-long coords: www.scramble.nl... -it's in their Order Of Battle sections which
they have for most air arms -just below the header for each base.
The thought that the aircraft outside the hangar might be a Pucara had crossed my mind, and the apparent height of the wing above the ground should
have given it away really.
That's great! Photos showing Viggen like this must be attractive very much!
Waynos must be kidnaped by terroristor, may be he can leran Arabic from them but Spainish, when he come back, he can read some articals about Iran
aircraft....
