While that is not an original source picture here isd an original impression of the same design which I have scanned so as too show how old it is. As you can see BAe and R-R were hoping to attract more customers to this design.

The top picture is the AD Sparrow, built for the Air Department by Blackburn who later learned how to do this aeroplane lark properly and built the Buccaneer strike jet

The second one escapes me, but I am thinking.

Hey, Peronemlin,

(or anyone else)

Can you recommend a book (with good photo coverage) and / or websites covering South American aircraft manufacturers ?

Any language, but English preferred.

OK, then let's try Martin (Convair) WB-57F Canberra

Yeah. NASA upengined it, and added all kinds of sensors and cameras to it, and were flying it doing ozone/atmosphere experiments with it until it started getting too expensive to use it regularly. They're gonna use them now to take pictures of the shuttle on liftoff.

The way things are going at the moment, the Canberra may rust away before NASA gets the shuttle off the ground again.

The current situation with the shuttle certainly doesn't inspire confidence in American technology, does it.

I wouldn't know about the the 'Portland' bit but that site is an excellent source of pics, most images in this thread came from there.

Maybe I'll look further afield for future images?

It certainly is, I just happened to come back online full-time this week (after a couple of months frequenting internet cafes) and downloaded those very same pix (among others).

Actually, it was the Vari-EZ. The Long-EZ is a lengthened version of it.
