Thank you Zaphod58...I have a question that I think you are uniquely qualified to answer.

How accurate is the Russian navigation system?

is it as good as even a cheap Garmin knockoff?

also, just where would Russia get maps for the GPS device like has been shown? Are they accepted regional maps, or are they some "special" construct?

I would presume that if they used globally accepted regional maps the borders of the respective countries would agree pretty much with something like Google Earth. By my analysis, that would mean that the Russian plane did in fact violate Turkish airspace...for some 10 seconds (depending of speed of the aircraft)...

But, this can be contested based on technology...so the precision of the technology must be considered.

On monday according to russian media, will have the first readings from the black box, but overall it may take a week.

so according to RT

The Russian military have invited experts from 14 nations to work on the flight recorder of the Russian Su-24 bomber downed by Turkey, but only two of them accepted their invitations, the Defense Ministry reported, before unsealing the device.

The experts who agreed to participate in the study of the flight recorder, which is to provide further evidence into the highly controversial incident, come from the UK and China, Lieut. Gen, Sergey Dronov, deputy commander of the Russian Air and Space Forces, told the media.

The unsealing of the flight recorder was performed on camera on Friday. Technicians extracted three circuit boards with memory chips, some of which appeared to be damaged. Lieutenant General Sergey Baynetov, who heads the flight safety service of the Russian armed forces, told journalists that investigators would soon inform how much information could be read from the memory chips. The boards were locked in a safe after extraction. The commission said a preliminary report into their findings may be expected Monday.
www.rt.com...

the link above includes the opening of the box.

According to Sputnik :

No official representatives from the UK took part in the opening of black box of Russian Su-24 bomber that was shot down by Turkish jet or will be involved in the ongoing investigation of Russian bomber's downing, according to a Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman. MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United Kingdom will not be involved in the decoding of data from the flight recorder of a Russian combat aircraft downed by a Turkish fighter jet over Syria, a Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman told Sputnik on Friday. Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said Russia invited experts from 14 countries to attend the opening of the flight recorder from the Russian Su-24 attack aircraft downed by the Turkish Air Force over Syria, but only representatives from the United Kingdom, the United States and China accepted the invitation. Read more: sputniknews.com...

Sputnik refers also to an American investigator, this may be last minute decision, that is why its not wide spread. So no british involved in the opening of the box, but americans and chinese did?

So let us not argue and wait a couple of days up to a week, for more data

Some of the PCB's look damaged indeed, but with solvering and add the healthy chips into a new pcb, will do the trick. Here is an example with our personal computers, how to fix a broken hdd pcb.. www.youtube.com...

So lets wait.

your claim is invalid, because the team of investigators includes some western specialists too. If the western specialists felt like something is wrong, they wouldn't say it, or at least quit the investigation team?

The countries who send their own investigators, surelly offered their intelligence and a wider satellite material access as well..

Thank you for that. Would you mind directing me to the link explaining that Western technologists and investigators examined the Black Box and came to the conclusion the jet never crossed in to Turkey airspace??

CUZ IT SEEMS LIKE TOTAL BS TO ME...

From today's news..

The "black box" of the Su-24 jet was officially opened in Moscow on Friday in front of journalists and diplomats.

Nikolai Primak, head of the Russian investigation, said flight information appeared to be missing.

Data from the box could help resolve the dispute over the jet's location when it was hit.

www.bbc.com...

Hmmm. How effen convenient....

I ask again...who has had this Flight Recorder this whole time??

Its the second time I receive the same question if you search back and I answer the same thing. This topic is to share the information given, why dont you search this thing. But I did read the bbc news article and it seems you didnt read it with the right way.

The article on top with bold letters says : The memory card in the flight recorder of a Russian fighter plane downed by Turkey on the Syrian border last month is damaged, Russian investigators say.

and bellow it with normal letters it says : Nikolai Primak, head of the Russian investigation, said flight information appeared to be missing.

in my understanding it means the chip is damaged, not missing - missing like stolen.

And I am sure there are many chips in there with indications and informations about the flight, lets wait.

PS: If many have this question, why dont you ask BBC what they mean with it.

Ok...Who has the Black Box?...Not Russia right? Some Neutral UN agency? Right?....

Cuz of course it would be difficult to believe what Russia declares...

I mean Putin's crew was the one that straight faced told the world they weren't in Crimea...

Amongst a steady stream of regular BS..

Who has the box?

I think the fact that the US done a 180 and wants to work with Russia kind of shows

The enemy of my enemy is my friend...only so long as my enemy lives...

Putin is useful right now to us in Syria...

You might step back from the Putin chest thumping and ask yourself who is doing whose bidding in Syria right now..

This end game does not end with Assad keeping power...everyone know this, even Putin despite his public support. By any standard Assad has failed as a leader, provoked revolution and dissent, let his country descend into civil war, ceded territory to ISIS. Even by a Tyrants standards he has failed and lost all credibility.

Putin? He has big trouble at home. The economic ministry just revised their economic forecast to accommodate the falling price of oil and the Russian economy...already struggling...is now seriously screwed.

Airstrikes in Syria are checking rebel forces, but doing virtually nothing to the Jihadists. Putin is stuck because he doesn't want to send in ground troops...but air strikes...as always are insufficient.

So what has he got in return for this investment? 1000's of Russian Speaking Jihadists have joined ISIS...undoubtedly they will return home to spread violence soon...and Russia has already lost a civilian airliner...

Crumbling economy, growing terrorist attacks, no traction from the air on stopping ISIS...

Putin needs the USA's help getting out of the mess...We dictated a plan and Putin signed off...Peace talks between the Assad regime and rebels, a unity transition government involving both and elections in 1.5 years sponsored by the United Nations. That doesn't sound to me like a Putin win...again he might thump his chest...but he is asking for help when the cameras aren't on IMO.

He has no exit plan and things are getting worse both at home and in Syria every day.

You making me a question that is questionable (its the second time I receive the same question if you search back and I answer the same thing), why you making these questions.

OK...While at first I assumed your OP was misinformation or propaganda I know willing to afford you the grace that English is not your first language?

By your grammatical structure...Russian?

To be clear..your OP stated..

The "black box" reveals and demonstrates how the Su-24 that shot down by air-to-air missiles fired by the Turkish F-16 have not crossed the Turkish border.

While in reality the Black Box has not revealed or demonstrated that the Su-24 "have not crossed the Turkish border"

The Black box was in the keeping of the Russian Military...then purportedly the same Black box was opened in front of the international press and observers...and it was declared that the recorders chip was damaged...and that "flight data was missing"?

The OP is poorly worded or false...

Either way...Having followed Putins exploits for almost 20 years...He has no credibility..

Any information I post inside "external source" quotes, is taken from articles from my country and I use google translate, then I copy paste it as "external source" . So its not my typing, but again, I am not english and I am also dyslexic.

That is why I also give you the links and you could translate for your self, with google translator or microsoft translator, or any other translator. Also you should know that many of the translators if not all, have issues and most of the times the translation is a bit off. Its wise to use them only for the basic information, not to read the entire thing.

Microsoft translator (just copy and paste a link from a foreign country news articles *in any language. www.bing.com...
Google translator and same as above translate.google.com...

Actually it's already started. Turkish military has sent an expeditionary force into iraq and has dug in an encampment near mosul and the Iraqi government is protesting, also nearly 60 kurdish fighters were killed in some sort of attack by those Turkish forces.
