You do not need to blow it up (like the OKC building). You only need weaken the structure...then, let the massive pressures of the water behind it to work its slow yet relentless movement into those cracks. And even if it did not severely affect the structure, the thought of that possibility would induce FUD into the community.

This FUD might be even more powerful that having the dam breached...since it demonstrates the possibility, and will require more $$ to repair, protect, and more regularly inspect it over time. That cost alone would weaken the economy and has potential to raise the taxes to help pay for that need.

My comic comment still applies to those that do not think temporally in these situations. It is a 4 dimensional problem folks.
Corp of Engineers built these things, based on Extreme Variables. Bomb shocks were part of their design Characteristics, so i feel pretty confident, unless they are using a Nuke?..That dam isn't going anywhere

I guess you failed to read my entire post. Please re-read where I said you do not need to blow it up, or even damage it.

Stop fearmongering...

Seriously ..

I think this is called being alert and paying attention to those terrorists your president let into our country, and has now allowed to disappear after confirming they have terrorist links. I think this is your denial and desire to divert attention from what Obama and the left have done, the threat they have placed upon the average citizen of the United States under their misguided and childish administration of our safety.

I know your response is the typical..."crap, everyone was right that letting terrorists in was a bad idea" and now the weak and useless distraction to try to avoid your crime and the crime of our government in placing butchers among the sheep.

The fact is this...Obama could have stopped this...the borders could have been secured...visas didn't have to be issued to now known terrorists..."refugees" did not have to be forced upon the states who (by the way) didn't want to allow this threat. But instead...you guys decided you just had to do it.

The fact is...Obama, his administration and the left have blood on their hands. They have been a contributor and enabler to every terrorist murder that happens in this country and if there was a real justice system, all of them would pay the price for each American death they allowed if not invited.

You let killers into our neighborhoods and now divert attention and security efforts because you realized you were wrong...just like the world was telling you? But your screwed up, fairy-tale ideology was more important. Wear the blood...take responsibility for the killings. You asked for this...you got it...you should be held as responsible for the onslaught as you would have taken responsibility if your plan worked. It didn't. And it has just begun.

Doom porn? This is the doing of the left...no one else.

Are you addressing me or Obama?

Why is this an Obama thing ( not that i support him).

Was it even proven these men were terrorist?

Way to jump the gun their angry guy.

The problem with this thread is that the majority has acted as judge ,jury, and executioner of these men without even knowing the results of the investigation.

"Ohh they were reported to be middle eastern looking, lets freak out now and tell every THEY ARE TERRORIST ..... Oh look the weather is changeing, Its Obamas fault""

*sarcasm off*

Get real dude , see it for what it really is and read between the lines .

This is why the neighbor lady in San Bernadino didn't call authorities about suspicious activity. Instead of going with her gut, she ignored it as to not be labeled a bigot. If she would've reported the activity, the San Bernadino victims most likely would still be alive.

Label me a racist, bigot, etc all you want. If I see some suspicious people or activities, I'm reporting it.

Has anyone put this together with the bulk cell phone purchases, the stolen propane tanks and the missing afghan military air force trainees? Have they been found? The protocol should definitely be "see something say something" and to hell with PC, enough is enough and I will not defend my stance to others on this forum who protect or defend those who would participate in this questionable activity regardless of their afilliation.

Believe me, they are aware of the vulnerability of dams, bridges and tunnels. Except there hasn't been an attack on US soil in that regard since 2001, has there?

Not that I am aware of anyway. Theres your sign. A group of men aren't going to ask to rent a boat to "look at dams" if they intend to bump a boat load of dynamite into it and make it fail.

Personally I think they would tend to hide such a thing from the general public, train derailings, plane crashes, bridge collapses, power outages and such, all are accountable as accidents in the main stream, right? Not sleeper cell Jihadis, looking to wage war in America.

When that happens it will be much bigger than anyone can miss, just like 911, just like the Anthrax and Ebola scare, just like second suns.

Edit: It will just happen without any advance notice, instead of "credible threat" type advance warnings. Just like all other attacks against western interests, so far.

You can't just assume criminals wouldn't make stupid mistakes. This is such a ridiculous standpoint that I feel I'm more responding so that others see a counterpoint to this nonsense, rather than trying to convince you.

World wide, terrorists have committed numerous intelligent operations, because they are on the other side doesn't make them 'Stupid'.

"Stupid" is believing like Empires do, running the world and why don't those damn fools just submit to the West?

We would be stupid to fear the entire Arabic people.
Given our history and current events, we would also be stupid not to be cautious.

It's PC nonsense like this that causes other people not to report incidents. Please stop trying to prevent valid news from going out because it might hurt your politically correct feelings.

...

Not to sound too much like a city slicker but why missouri and iowa? Dams are actually pretty hard to blow up and on an economic basis it wont cause the damage that blowing up grand coullee dam would!

Dumb Terrorists IMHO !!!

Could be they want to attack in the heart..land... To strike fear in all Americans that no place is safe..also there's a real lack of security most of it is rural and people generally mind their own business which might appeal to them. Conversly though I don't know a single person that doesn't own a gun or 3, hunting is a regular activity here so there's a lot of hicks that shoot and drink and aren't afraid of much..I personally have no fear whatsoever of my safety unless terrorists start blowing up corn fields and forests then I may get worried what frightens me is chaos that could be caused by damaging the grid and our way of life.people are very simple We are just a big herd of animals and like when there's a fire in the field the animals all run scared so too we as a population do the same. On 911 we seen how it gripped the nation but here in the Midwest we felt somewhat safer believing they only want to harm big coastal cities thousand miles distant. M aa reply to: StargateSG7

My response was intended to express the frustration of the question...why are we making a big deal of this. We make a big deal of this and speak "doom porn" because of the situation in which we have been intentionally and knowingly placed. My "anger" as you call it is frustration and confusion why such people are PERMITTED (assuming they mean no good) to be here to begin with. We have a giant government full of people and the technology to keep anyone out we truly wish to keep out. Let me make that perfectly clear...no terrorist can enter the USA if we don't want them to. So...why is this administration letting them in? Border, refugees, etc. If our government took the approach of "a single American death is unacceptable", there wouldn't be any. The ultimate of which is lock-down and evict, but that isn't required.

So yes...I've come to anger over our leaders placing you, me, my children at risk for their political goals. It is about Obama because he is the one with the door open yelling "Come on in" and it doesn't matter if these particular individuals are terrorists or not. We shouldn't even be in a situation where we have to consider the possibility.

What has been allowed to occur is a crime. I happen to wish to see the criminals pay.

No they are trying to kill us all get real! If hydro dams and grids go down they will occupy us isil is probably going to take over the Midwest of America as there place and we will be forced to destroy our own towns trying to exterminate them ! They are here and they want to destroy America by blowing a hydro dam a few small groups of terrorists with ak47 s driving around Missouri back roads is the possibility I think exists.think of a say 100 terrorists total would wreak havoc on top of the bagnell dams importance to that entire area is staggering ! Research the numbers yourself .Our country is just laying here with her middle wide open because Americans through history have thought little about military resources in the Midwest Our nuclear deterrent gave us peace of mind that No country would ever dare to attack us but this isn't a country we are being attacked by its a caliphate .one bomb there then all the terrorists embedded on each coast flock to Missouri in the wake of the tragedy and we are done. Read art of war. Our country's middle is wide open there's literally no military other than fort Leonard wood for miles and miles and miles they will use our own existing roads and bridges. A hundred terrorists could take over a city like Columbia or kahoka or lees summit. Somebody please say why can't that happen ? We have more military assets at some embassies than there is in the midwest. I m a positive person generally but as I ponder all the happenings a few interstates bombed and hydros commerce would halt the country could be buckled completely reply to: WeAreAWAKE

There is no need to be afraid when members are simply sharing a piece of news on ATS. This should not cause people to be more "afraid" and apprehensive toward people of Middle Eastern backgrounds (although of course that will still happen).

I don't think OP is fearmongering though - and there have been a lot of weird happenings in MO this month and if the FBI is looking into it, there might be some credibility to the premise that these men were planning some sort of attack. Better safe than sorry.

Beautifully put just hope others read what you put when they see this post.

It is crazy how, something bad happens everyone jumps on it and points fingers. It calms down, people step back and then say, do not point your fingers at them now, its racist. Then few more days later, just because they are eastern you think they are up to something, tut........ Then few more days leading on, another bomb goes off. Its those guys again, now its ok to point fingers. Self righteous a**holes!

Missouri and Iowa are out in the middle of nowhere. Proof they can strike wherever they want. Also, they likely think that no one expects them to strike out here. Less security.

Also, think about it ... tiny little towns out in the middle of nowhere. Hit enough of them and how on earth do you get a timely enough, large enough emergency response?

The only thing I have to say to that is that we regularly deal with large severe weather outbreaks. They aren't the same ... no, but they do cause us to scramble large numbers of disaster response across wide areas.

Whats is "looking middle eastern"? I've been confused for that, and my ancestry is purely northern Europen (Irish, Scots, Welsh) and I'm from New Zealand. SO I have a strange accent, but with wavy black hair, and ability to tan, I've been profiled.

Basically, visual indications are a rather poor way to judge where someone is from.
