what i find most astonishing about this case isn't the ridiculous story the guy is pushing about falling on her but the fact that this millionaire was granted 20 minutes to give private testimony, something that is usually only permitted to minors and those who's identity must be concealed, eg when an officer of the security services or SIS are required to testify...


the very fact that this man was granted permission to testify privately speaks volumes to me, it means either one or two things, he's either politically connected or he paid for the privilege which i don't think is beyond the realms of possibility given the state of the legal system here in the UK

Maybe you're right, maybe it was consensual. Maybe the girl was a tramp. So, why was THAT not his defense? Why the utterly ridiculous 'defense' of "oops it was an accident"? HIS explanation is what makes me believe that he's totally guilty of rape and the fact that the court bought his lame crap is just one more kick in the nuts to the victim and the 'justice' system.

Anyways, I read the short story of it. There both bull#ing and everybody else as well. I do believe they both just got the sour part of the deal and now for some reason it ended up in courts. Very suspicious circumstances indeed. Why is this in court is the biggest mystery, if this is what it looks like why dont they just pay them off and get on with it. Why let it go to the courts to begin with unless he actually did nothing, which is not likely.

Of course not: the story needs to be plausible and preferably some evidence should be present. In the case of the OP you might have queried the others present in the night club, the taxi driver (assuming they weren't doing a DUI), perhaps the night guard of the appartment complex, there might have been videos. And of course, the statement of the accused and his company.

Only if sufficient PROOF of his guild has been provided a judge would rule against the victim. In this case, there simply was not sufficient proof for the rape.

Lessons for young girls that don't want to get raped: don't go to a nightclub, don't drink, don't get tipsy, don't get into a cab with a horny guy and your girlfriend, DO accept his offer to drive you home (or have your driven home), don't drink (more?) vodka when you get into his appartment, don't undo your undies while there, don't try to peek on them if they make out..

The conditions required are for you to be in a place, alone. Now, if you're in some dark alleyway it's a bit of a harder sell than its already ridiculousness.

It is exactly the opposite of a non-issue. It is the most degrading and damaging crime that could be committed on a person- second only to murder. And I could argue that rape is worse than murder because you have to live the rest of your life with the repercussions of what's been forced upon you. And now she has to deal with the secondary wounding of the court. She was victimized, she went to the authorities as she's supposed to do, and now this guy is walking free on account of the stupidest story anyone could ever have come up with. And ForteanOrg is correct in that there are measures a woman can take to reduce her chances of being raped. But failing to take those precautions does NOT mean she deserves to be raped.

The only thing disturbing, in this thread, is how many people think they know more about this case than the 12 jurors that acquitted him...in 30 minutes...after being privy to the entire case....including the 20 minute private testimony.
