16 year old Philip Chism was convicted of raping, robbing, and murdering his 24 year old math teacher, Colleen Ritzer. Chism was 14 when he carried out his acts.

The jury found him not guilty of a second rape charge for assaulting his victim's remains once he dumped her body in the woods. The prosecution wasn't able to prove definitively, it seems, that she was still alive when he used a three foot long tree branch to assault her.

Surveillance video was shown during the trial of Chism following Ritzer out of her classroom to the restroom where the attack took place, and also captured him putting on gloves before following her in the restroom. Cameras also captured him wheeling a large recycling bin out of the school, as well as him leaving the school with what appeared to be her clothes.

Chism's defense team argued that he was mentally ill, producing an expert who testified he was listening to voices in his head and believed himself to be a ninja. The prosecution rebutted that claim by providing their own expert who testified Chism's "symptoms" seem to come and go and aren't truly pervasive. The prosecution also argued that by bringing the murder weapon, gloves, etc to school Chism had shown intent.

Thanks to being a minor, Chism will be eligible for parole sometime between age 30 and 35.

There is no justice system only a legal system, the nature and severity of this case calls for the boy to be charged as an adult, this should of been applied!

Well he just a special little blossom, isn't he?

I'd love to know what his classmates thought of him prior to this. Betcha good money several of them aren't surprised in the slightest.

I have read a lot about this case and Colleen Ritzer. There isn't anyone with a bad word about this women. She was caring, empathetic, compassionate, and sent tweets that must have made people feel like a million bucks. This kid is a sociopathic, indignant, and ignorant, to the fullest extent.

There are so few people left with her kind of values. Just thinking about other people all the time like she was known for is very rare.

Meanwhile it seems more youth are brainwashed by the sex and death cult media that there is going to be more and more young adults with Philip Chism like mentality. Most of these people won't act out but will still have terrible neurological structure and entitlement issues from being raised with none existent or abusive parents that let their only entertainment be internet porn and walking dead type stuff from child hood on.

I am not knocking the porn or walking dead, to each his own, I don't judge, but the crap is everywhere and kids have easy access to it. My nephew knew about things at 12 years old, from youtube, I didn't know until I was 16-18. I 100% lay this responsibility on parenting. That is where it starts to fix this corruption of children's youth by the media and internet. My friend with a son and daughter said that after he took away television and put his kids in a private school that they became that much more focused and learned that much faster and were so much more well behaved.

I have also read a study where a school removed all chemicals from the food and there was an increase in test scores and focus across the board. There is more than one suspect here for how a young adult like Chism could be so deranged and callous, including the abuse from his alcoholic father.

There are no words for how Colleen's family must feel. Rest in peace, Ms. Ritzer.

I'll go ahead and disagree with this statement, but only a little. There are a lot of people like her around, if there weren't the world would be a much darker place than it is. Are there enough? No. Never.

...and the world becomes just a bit darker with her loss.
