Can you provide any specific examples to back up the claims you just made? Because even Wikipedia disagrees with you

Hundreds of comments on ATS on how the right and left 'switched' sides on these boards for one.

Are Canadian parties/ideology the same as here?

Are UK parties/ideology the same as here?

Are German parties/ideology the same as here?

Only example I can think off the top of my head is Hannan from the UK.

While John Titor was a hoax, I am pretty impressed he was able to foresaw the division of American society. (For those of you who don't know who Titor was, he's an alleged time traveler who predicted the fracturing of American society that preceded a Second American Civil War)

If it happens, it won't be a north vs South deal. It'll be Right vs left.

why?.....this is all bluster from the right...the jingoism, the hatred for our own government, no matter what agency. the proverbial "THEY"...the right needs to apply critical-thinking skills, use reason, and a degree of judgment, to off-set the nuts in their own party. the fear and paranoia is running rampant on the right, and the various mouthpieces, whether they be radio hosts, TV commentators, and/or public figures, are adding to this for their own personal gain.

It's called being a "populist" and an opportunist. He's appealing to the "stick it to the man" and "rebel" attitudes people find likable.

In my neo-feudalism thread I discussed how disenfranchised and powerless people feel these days -- Trump plays that chord to a "T". He gives the people the appearance that he's "fighting back" against "the man" (whomever that is...)

So even people who aren't racist in anyway are now supporting him. They just like the "rebel with an attitude" feeling they get from associating themselves with Trump. They like living vicariously through Trump, and feel empowered finally.

They're just being used, tricked, played and will soon be disappointed just like how all the "Hope & Change" folks were. The only difference is "Hope & Change" didn't carry with it the same anger, resentment, hatred and xenophobia.

Right... It just carried "Blame the Republicans, they are our #1 enemy!"

So, same thing by obama, just more destructive.

Yeah, the "Make America Great" slogan is pretty nationalistic. Trump can't use "fatherland" -- as that's a direct rip-off of actual Nazi propaganda:

"Fatherland" was first encountered by the vast majority of citizens in countries that did not themselves use it during World War II, when it was featured in news reports associated with Nazi Germany.[2][3] German government propaganda used its appeal to nationalism when making references to Germany and the state.[2][3] It was used in Mein Kampf.,[4] and on a sign in a German concentration camp, also signed, Adolf Hitler.[5] As such, the word "Vaterland" and the near English translation "fatherland" are often connotated with National Socialism outside Germany; in Germany, this is not the case.

Wikipedia

Now, to be fair -- under oppressive communism in Russia the term "Motherland" was used.

Any time you have an oppressive government, you need the people to be on board with you -- breeding people to be ultra-nationalistic, patriotic to a fault, is how you can do this.

People will ignore horrible things the government does if they truly believe it's for the "good" of the country. The red, white, and blue will be coursing through their veins and the 50 stars will be shining so brightly in their eyes ... they'll be blind to the backwards momentum that's happening.

As I said above, if you go to far to the extreme right you get Nazi-totalitarianism. If you go to far to the left you get corrupt communist-fascism. In the end, it's really all the same. Power concentrated by a very, very few using propaganda and mind control to fool the people into following in lock-step.

Part of the Nazi propaganda included using fear.

I'm almost certain if Trump gets elected, we'll see our very own Reichstag fire not long after he's in office.

Trump ISNT a Nazi or probably even believes in any Nazi ideals -- but he does recognize how effective their propaganda machines were. Trump also has a knack for seizing opportunities. Right now America is ripe to be taken advantage of by Nazi-inspired propaganda and memes. Americans are easily scared and ready to embrace a new found love for country/nation.

The question becomes...are you going to allow yourself to be brainwashed by someone using Nazi-inspired memes and nationalistic hogwash?

Yep. This country is divided, not by N-S, but by L-R. Like him now or not, the best bet for a true moderate would have been Christie in 2012. The GOP establishment was begging for him to run then, but he declined. He missed his shot. Bridgegate, among other bumps in the road (no pun intended) since then ruined his chances. I'm a registered Dem and would have voted for him back then.

Edit to add Christie would have been a more appealing candidate than Romney in 2012.

Yeah he definitely missed his shot. I'm not a fan because I think he's too wishy washy. I've noticed his attitude change a lot this year, but I don't know if he's talking out of his butt or if he's sincere. Of course, I guess that's all politicians.

I don't see that in there at all?

The economy was in the toilet, so of course people wanted hope.

We had just gotten through 8 years of George W Bush...can you honestly say America as a whole wasn't ready for change after that?

Anyone calling the right wingers 'nazi's is peddling outright lies.

Because as one moves from country to country.

Left and Right are flipped.

No country has the same political systems. There for it's a false equivalence.

But hey what do I know.

Trumps a 'nazi'.

Oh wow, now THAT'S golden, poney.

A false equivalence?

You mean the same false equivalence that literally ALL Republicans use against Democratic Socialism - as in comparing it to Stalin or Marx?

My goodness, your logic is becoming quite flippy-floppy.

"No country has the same political system."

Tell that to the ignorant masses who can't determine the difference between"Communism," and "Democratic Socialism!"

You are literally obsessed with defending the Republican Party.

How do we differentiate the two? What about independents? Could there be a three-way civil war?

Maybe Jeb Bush can let us know; since he can just tell that someone is a christian just by looking at them, perhaps his super powers extend to political leanings as well.

I wouldn't complain if the left/right went to war with one another.

Maybe we can get some people who actually give a damn regarding politics rather than treating it as a game, "where I gotta defend my guy, my guy is the best, my guy will make Murika great again!"

Not something I have an answer to. I guess they choose a side. Honestly, I'd rather secede and let the liberals run one side while Conservatives ran the other and see who crumbled first. But that's just me.

the only way to discuss this topic is to realize how drastically extreme both side have made each other.

How am i supposed to discuss an idiot who jokes(hopefully) about setting someone one fire.

and there have been protests at Hillary events. I'm not derailing the thread...

Those biased sources cited are not retrievable.

If the "definitions" are so rock solid, why do they hide the sources?

Normal people know the opposite.

Can anybody actually get the quotes?

Good luck wasting your time.

Fascism rejects assertions of violence automatically being negative in nature and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation.[8][9][10][11]

en.wikipedia.org...

Thats calling it like it is.

Saw the proof in that pudding during the Occupy movement, and Ferguson, and BLM.

Fascists saw World War I as a revolution that brought revolutionary changes in the nature of war, society, the state, and technology.

See it again with the push of alternative energies, and the CLAIM of owning the entire planet.

Fascists view World War I as having made liberal democracy obsolete, and regard total mobilization of society under a totalitarian single-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties.[7

We also see it how some people think there should be one party rule.

Left wingers need to face the facts.

Fascism/Nazism has more in common with the LEFT than the right.

And that isn't even including the LEFT's xenophobic tirades about rich people, bankers, gun owners, ceo's, and Monstanto and GMO,Christians, and Jews.

I don't see much hope for compromise in the near future. Everyone is so polarized right now. On ATS alone you can feel the seething hatred each side has for one another.

I mean think of it like this. Some random guy did a Nazi salute at a Trump rally and somehow that got turned into Trump is a Nazi in this thread....what???

Even the way we speak in passing about the "opponents" side is constantly loaded. How many posts about Trump call people who like him ignorant or scared as if it is a fact?

Many people are so set in their beliefs that there's basically no point in talking to them because they aren't listening.

And that's just on ATS alone, a small, statistically unimportant microcosm of the country right now.

I say buckle up

No people the Nazi's weren't 'socialist'!

What does Christianity mean today? National Socialism is a religion. All we lack is a religious genius capable of uprooting outmoded religious practices and putting new ones in their place. We lack traditions and ritual. One day soon National Socialism will be the religion of all Germans. My Party is my church, and I believe I serve the Lord best if I do his will, and liberate my oppressed people from the fetters of slavery. That is my gospel. Dated 16 October 1928

Well that sounds familiar.

To be a socialist is to submit the I to the thou; socialism is sacrificing the individual to the whole. Quoted in Escape from Freedom by Erich Fromm (1941) p. 223
