Why do the people who want and bigger and more arms in the hands of the people to protect themselves from the big, bad government seem to also be the same people who keep supporting those who vote for people who vote for the outrageous military spending budgets?

Because democrats for the most part are anti gun and would rather waste money on all sorts of social programs that create dependency upon the govt! The best defense is a strong offense and looking at the world we live in today we can see as our offensive abilities are being eroded it affects our ability to protect ourselfs. The enemy is being imported in from all over so democrats can gain more voters and these people are being paid for by us! Because of all this the 2nd amendment must be excercised! Not to go around shooting people and yes gun ownership shouldn't be for everyone but Obama is already look to unilaterally limit some guns, ironically they are the very guns that give us the best chance to defend ourselfs!

You should take note that during the Civil War, several hundred thousand southerners went to fight for the north and if a group of present day anti-govt. gun owners decided to orchestrate an armed takeover of our govt., I'm confident that the same scenario would play out again.

In other words, a large number of those 400 million guns in the hands of civilians would be pointed right back at you.
