In this video recorded debate the question was "Is Islam a Religion of Peace. Many of the audience had agreed with this opening statement but most had changed their vote by the end of the debate. If you don't have an hour and 40 minutes to watch this fully I suggest you flag this post, bookmark the video and return to it when you can bring in an opinion qualified with the actual experience of having listened to this debate. Any responses that are time stamped at less than the time required to review this video I will not respond to and you will be ignored throughout the thread by me at least. I am not looking to instigate anything other than a discussion about this debate, the views expressed, and relevant discussion or critique. There are plenty of threads where anyone can bloviate or pontificate all they like but this thread should be centered on the issues of this video debate. Thanks for viewing and I hope relevant discussion.

Perhaps you can provide some transcript of the video for some of us unfortunate folks *Internet bandwidth-wise* to at least have something more constructive to add.

Edit:

This was what I managed to get of the video details sections.

Zeba Khan and Maajid Nawaz debate against Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Douglas Murray to try and prove that Islam is a religion of peace. Spoiler alert: they fail miserably, and that''s not just my bias, that's how the audience actually felt. The only thing Zeba and Maajid proved was that they wish and hope that Islam will become a religion of peace.

Note: The only parts cut from the debate were the long introduction before the moderator first starts speaking and instances where the moderator repeated the name of the debate and all the debaters, which he did several times. You will see a cut at about 52 minutes in where Maajid is just finishing a sentence. Nothing that he said was cut. After he says "camp" the video cut to the audience and the moderator started announcing the debate information again.

Otherwise, even the questions and answers have been left in at the end.

I would really like to know the "punch line" that turned the debate in favor of Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Douglas Murray against Islam being a religion of Peace? OP are you able to at least provide a transcript on this bit only since already watched the full video?

Thanks

I'll second that, reading is far preferred over watching tv any day!

To be fair, no religion could really prove that ... Christianity a religion of peace? look at it's history ... nonsense .. so much death and destruction in it's name ..

Religion IS the issue .. Buddhism may be one exception but I can't even say that with certainty ... I'm non religious ..

I haven't seen this debate yet, but if it's anything like the debate about if the Catholic Church is a Source of Good (which it clearly is not), then this one should be very interesting! I'll have to watch it in a bit. Thanks for the link!

In case your interested, here's the catholic church debate too

Before the haters hate..

I don't sympathize with any side... I'm not religious and I think war is stupid... just throwing up some facts... deal with it

We have to admit our past has been horrible.. we were NOT peaceful, we were violent.. we took over swaths of land and we forced many to convert or die .. that was the crusades ... we DID that ...
