The Time Magazine Person of the year,2015 has been decided.
It is Angela Merkel,Chancellor of Germany.

Her role in Europe's migration crisis is being cited as one of the main reasons for the accolade.

Another contraversial/debatable decision by Time Magazine?
Or a worthy choice?

Whaddaya reckon folks?

The magazine cited her role in Europe's crises over migration and Greek debt. Mrs Merkel had provided "steadfast moral leadership in a world where it is in short supply", editor Nancy Gibbs wrote. Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was named runner-up and third place went to US presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

OK,I would prefer Merkel to those other two choices, but that is not to say I like the way she goes about things.

time.com...

Putin and Obama have been previous "person of the year"-this time its Merkels turn..
Any Thoughts ATS Brothers and Sisters?

Time magazine was relevant at one time...ask any person under 30 when the last time the read Time Magazine? Probably 1%.

No longer a relevant magazine since the internet has come along...

That maybe so,but I don't think Time magazine was ever targeted at the under 30's.
It is interesting to me,but not really surprising, that Merkel has got the person of 2015.

Time seem to be following their usual agenda of giving that title to people who are in power, yet behave in a way not how the people who voted them in want to,but behave in some manner hidden to those voters.
One could say they vote people to be the "person of the year" on a secret set of credentials..

Just my opinion,of course.

Murky will be proven to have been on the wrong side of history, even more so than she already has.

Good Catch, Synapse. You are probably more right than wrong
about the notariety due to a hidden set of criteria. The people
of Germany sure have a problem with the policy she pushed.
Makes you wonder if those interchangeable menbers of this big
club populate the Nobel Committe to some noticeable amount...

I have no respect for her for what she is doing to her country and Time magazine has gone the way of the Nobel Peace Prize.
