Apparently, there was a time when an XB-70, an awesome but now fetishized aircraft, had the nose landing gear get blown back into a partially
retracted position. The hydraulics also fritzed and even after doing multiple touch and goes to hammer the gear back into place, the gear was still
stuck. The pilots were faced with having to eject and lose the bomber. They flew around for a couple hours to see if the engineers could figure out
something. They did: they wanted the pilots to short the hydraulics electronics. Lacking tools, they used a paper clip.
Impressive aircraft for its time kind of a shame it lost out to ICBM's in the battle of the delivery systems.
1.5 billion $ at 60's value and only 2 planes flown for around 200 hours of testing between them!
