I'm fine, thanks.

I just didn't see it as relevant that Obama travelled in his youth. So did I.
Did you??

Well if Bush was the main reason America is in the Middle East then yeah.

No Bush isn't the reason we are in the middle east.

It began with FDR.

Saudis remember FDR's broken promise

So no matter WHAT blame Bush.

I see how the works.

GWB the countries longest 'serving' president.

I guess the current administration is never going to step up, and be held accountable for it's actions.

Well if Bush was the main reason America is in the Middle East then yeah.

I am pretty sure a devastating attack happened on Bush's watch, I am pretty sure it was Bush who took out Saddam which led to an uprising of ISIS, I am pretty sure he started the war in the Middle East.anything else?

Yep.

Patriot Act.
NSA Surveillance on domestic grounds
Meta-data collection
Militarization of police/Larger police presence
TSA and other alphabet agencies
"Anti-terror" watch-lists
Heightened military presence in many countries
Detainment camps without trial

And these are the people who preach for smaller government.

Hey, have you ever read "The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11" by Lawrence Wright?

You can even read it for free online as a pdf.....
just paste it into your search bar.

I'd be very interested to hear what you think about it.

(Unofficially) not eligible, worded that way, I couldn't tell what was meant.

My apologies to the poster!

You're not off the hook yet:

Are you high? It very EXPLICITY states that - and after doing this about one-hundred times for ATS members, look it up yourself: That NO position of government can be discriminated against on the BASIS of religion. Oh my goodness, please consider reading parts of the Consitution before espousing them.

Now me, I don't think any religious person should be viable for POTUS. I'd rather have a human being who cares more about his fellow man be president, but that's not my call to make.

Next time someone blathers on regarding how "we can't have a Muslim in office," they Consitution they so often praise says differently.

Tough talk - too bad you don't believe in what you're saying

Do you actually mean to say that I care less about human beings than you because I don't believe as you do?

I'm pretty sure that post proves you're a liar - but let's hear your argument

Not at all, I have no idea who you are, why does everyone take everything so personal, and get so butt-hurt about it?

I'll let you in on a secret - it's an opinion. Not a missle. It doesn't hurt, and it's not coming for you.

Anyway, how am I liar?

Because in my opinion I feel like those who believe in dragontale A, B, C, D, E, F, G, etc etc, care less about people as opposed to those who don't abide to religious doctrine?

Well - that's my opinion, I don't see how that makes me a liar? Rather than building pointless mega-churches and killing those in the name of God seems really rather counter-productive to the human race.

Do YOU care less? I don't know - and quite frankly, don't care. I can certainly tell you that those who preach hate from beyond their podium care less about their fellow man than I do.

For example - you're gay? Awesome! You believe in Islam! Fantastic! You believe in Jesus! Right on! You don't believe in God! Sweet!

I'd give you examples of religious institutes and leaders prosecuting (and calling for the death) of many groups of people - but honestly, I wouldn't know where to begin picking at that ^%#* tree.

Too bad I don't believe in what I'm saying? Well, I guess you know me better than myself based off of all of a paragraph on the Internet. You really got me, man.

Just because I don't feel like a religious nut should be POTUS doesn't make me a liar when I say that the Consitition EXPLICITY prohibits that.

I don't agree with it, as I've stated. How does this make me a liar?

I didn't expect you to know it when it happened in the 80's. I expected you to know it today because people that constantly defend this man that supposedly "leads" this country, and people that spout rhetoric like they really know something should be aware of some of this stuff, especially when it really is common knowledge.

Hmmm.

Well, I know how things were in the 80s, and not only recall them very well, but see them from a perspective that isn't dissimilar to Obama's. I have little in common with him except for our generation, and being a community organizer focused on the common good, and helping the disenfranchised to begin to empower themselves.

Oh, and I was born in Chicago - but by the age of 6 I was gone from there.

Anyway - enough about me. I said: I know how things were in the 80s, and not only recall them very well, but see them from a perspective that isn't dissimilar to Obama's.

Do you? What were you doing in the 80s?

What would you prefer Obama to have been doing, back in the 80s:
Going to church?
Active military?

And your boy W. continued with his legacy just like pops, let's not forget that grand-daddy war bucks also helped finance the Nazis.

Thing is, Neo, and this is my opinion - it's not a sitting president, whether they be Democrat/Republican/Socialist/Whatever, it's something much, much deeper than that.

On the topic of FDR, how about his speech regarding "the unwarranted and unsought influence of the military-industrial complex," and how THAT, "was our single greatest threat to our national security, and democratic ways."

Fast forward to 2015, is the influence apparent in today's society? Absolutely, and the muddled confusion and complexity has led to those responsible slowly slipping out of the spotlight and leaving people clamoring for answers.

I'm an atheist

Your post to me was completely accusatory - which I'm used to

Our Constitution protects all of us - even the Christians (which I say with some irony)

You went on to say that you think religious folk care less about people than you do - and if it were up to you, you wouldn't have them leading our country

Yes - it's an opinion. You're free to be as antagonistic as you want - I'm free to give it right back. Don't like it? Watch your step and show some manners

I'll let you in on a secret - it's an opinion. Not a missle. It doesn't hurt, and it's not coming for you.

But I thought Obama is supposed to be a Puppet........? Puppets don't pull the strings, puppet-Masters do that.

Who is the puppet master? Picked such a weakling that may out of ignorance expose it? Look at his cabinet and advisers; at his policy. It is clear this administration means to bankrupt this country; not only financially but morally. It bothers me this administration thinks we are idiots believing the perfect?! socialist idea 'everything should be free' (with no idea how to pay for it).

Of course I did. But the one place I never thought about spending my vacation time in was Pakistan, especially in the 80's!

Hi. Was just re-reading and had another thought, in response to this:

I expected you to know it today because people that constantly defend this man that supposedly "leads" this country, and people that spout rhetoric like they really know something should be aware of some of this stuff, especially when it really is common knowledge.....

I have no idea what your political choices are, or who you would support, but no matter:
I could rewrite your quote above to make a point. To wit:

I expected you to know it today because people that constantly defend [Trump who wants to "lead"] this country, and people that spout rhetoric like they really know something should be aware of some of this stuff, especially when it really is common knowledge.
You're right!

I saw a special on TV the other night about Trump's life story. Very interesting. He was even kind of handsome when he was in his 20s!!
Anyway - yes, we should (as responsible voters) be aware of these things.
Obama isn't on the ballot this time, though.
So - I'm going with Bernie.

I went to college with guys from Pakistan, India, Egypt, Nigeria and other nationalities. They were our friends.
Maybe that doesn't count, though.

I went out this weekend. On Friday night I spent most of a very late evening with two fantastic ladies I had met that very evening, bouncing from bar to bar, and winding up thoroughly mangled and partially collapsed from drinking at about ten to four in the morning, at which point, I placed the aforementioned ladies into a cab outside the Casino bar that we had been drinking in, and made my way the four and a quarter miles home to my place on foot (I am a gentleman, and that is how we roll, so to speak).

On Saturday morning, mid way through a considerable hangover which rendered me incapable of basic tasks, like standing up correctly, and tying my shoes in a timely fashion, I was making a damned sight more sense in my utterances, than either the much vaunted Mr Adams, or indeed, than was uttered during the entire OP of this thread. This thread was begun from the most utterly invalid position one could possibly take on the matter, and I do not say that lightly.

You could have started with something at least remotely possible, like "The sky is actually home to a rare species of leopard which is so light, that it can jump from cloud to cloud, snatching the odd albatross out of the air for sustenance" or "Fukushima was actually an event which started with a really bad curry fart, experienced by a tavern owner in a small village in the East of England, whose ripples across the crust of the Earth caused the quake and resultant tsunami, which effected Japan on the day!"

Same here, but lots of Asians, too. What is your point? You are confusing me with statements that have nothing to do with anything.

I understood that your point was that Obama had traveled to Pakistan in the 80s, as a 20-something, and somehow you see that as pertinent to anything.

I gathered that you "of course" traveled, but would never have gone to Pakistan. And you went to college with all those folks -- oh, and Asians, too! ----

Yeah, I knew Asians, too.....

Somehow, I thought you were trying to make a connection between those dots that proves something about you or Obama....
but, I don't know what that 'something' is.

Anyway - nevermind. Just thinking out loud and chatting.

If America is funding ISIS, wouldn't that make Obama at least a cell if not a leader of ISIS. Kind of like bale organa in the Rebellion against the Empire.

Lol, but seriously, if America is funding ISIS, Toyota trucks anyone, the it's hard to say Obama isn't part of ISIS. If America isn't funding ISIS, then this claim is way off base
