Reflections

Fortunate that when we gaze into the mirror
we only see that which we choose to perceive
Think that if you beheld the looking glass
Viewed yourself realistically

I stand naked in reflection
My sins festooned upon my flesh
A flock of harpy leeches
weighing me down

Drinking love and laughter
Their tongues the careless
hatred of indifference
Whisper seductive

When I find the strength
to cast aside all pretense
all thought of self and selfish
perception marries realism



Ahhh...the sound of wedding bells on the air...
