How is this possible? I've been reading/seeing American news outlets, glorifying Australia's gun ban. This has got to be a "conspiracy". They have no "assault weapons" down under. How can this crime be...doesn't exist there!!? I'm sure whatever this incident is, it's against the law...and therefore, does not exist. It would be against the "law"...

seriously....you must be so jealous.

We go to the shops and don't worry.

we go to the movies and don't worry.

we go to school and don't worry.

we go to Christmas parties and don't worry.

so you keep a hold of your guns and sing "land of the free".

and we will live free from jumping at our own shadow.

That's not quite true.

Remember the Sydney siege? - people just trying to have a coffee on their way to work.

Just days ago a girl stabbed another girl at school at Caboolture, and it's happened before. A boy died from being bashed at school a few years ago in regional NSW. Another boy died from being stabbed at a Brisbane school in 2010.

Violence in Oz is on the increase and I'm sure if we had the population the States has, it would be worse.

This year alone something like 70 women have died from domestic violence.

Australia isnt immune to violence. And some of us do have guns legally.

Of course we have violence. But we dont have mass killings on a almost daily basis.

I hear gun shots all the time....farmers shooting the foxes.

And i certainly wont take a lecture comparing our safety to his.

I'm not lecturing you.

But I think now, we all have a reason to worry, regardless of where we live. Violence is on the increase in our country. And don't forget we hold the record for the amount of people killed in a mass shooting.

been

Actually we dont , never did , not that it would have anything to be proud of . This person Woo Bum-Kon might be someone to start with . And lets not forget it was the Martin Bryant shootings that triggered the gun buy backs .

I stand corrected. Still, 35 people in one shooting is more than any American mass shooting.

I'm not proud of that fact and don't think it came across that way.

And yes, I think we all know Bryant was the reason for the gun buy backs and tighter laws.

My point was- Australia is no safer than any other country now. We do have to worry- everyone does- ISIS will stop at nothing. Chit does happen at the shops and schools.

That's not possible, guns are illegal in Australia. Must be a mistake. They tell us that all the time. "Look how peaceful us Aussies are, we aren't allowed to have guns so criminals can't get them either".

Hmm, so making guns illegal doesn't stop all gun crimes? Crazy, they almost had me convinced.

News flash, we don't either mate. Also remember to multiple all of your crime statistics by 16, since your whole country has 20m compared to our 320m. And if you can believe it, I have never been shot at, or had a gun pulled on me, or been anywhere near a shooting. Don't believe the hype man, it won't do you any good.

Australia had .11 murders per 100,00 in 2011 . The US had 3.55 per 100,00 in 2013 . You do the math . Ok i will do it for you . You are 32 times as likely to be murdered by a gun in the US as against Australia .

en.wikipedia.org...

Sure the years don't match up but i think the average would not change a whole lot .

Dont blame me for the years not matching up , send your complaints to Wiki .
