.@KNX1070 reporting a neighbor did not call authorities about suspicious activity bc she did not want to racially profile #SanBernardino

The really funny thing about 'profiling' is that the FBI are so very good at what they do BECAUSE they profile. They have developed a very successful and statistically reliable method of predicting who will commit what crimes, and also who the likely suspect is after a crime has been committed. FBI PROFILING

Oftentimes your gut is pretty damn good as well!

So this shooting is 'the PC crowd's fault? So, by that reasoning, you should agree that it's the 'right-wing media's fault for Dear shooting up PP? That it's Heston and the NRA's fault for every shooting? Let me guess, it's individual choice in those matters! But not in this one, nope.

I am wondering what constitutes "suspicious activity." Simply having the rifles wouldn't have qualified. Indeed having guns would have been proof positive to a red-blooded American observer that these folk were becoming Good "Gun Loving" Americans wouldnt it?

If the neighbor saw excessive amounts of ammo or the pipe bomb assembly workstation and realized what they were seeing, the "political correctness" excuse for not tipping off the cops is highly suspect itself. If the person saw something REALLY suspicious they probably didn't report it for fear of reprisal.

If you are not racist, why care if someone calls you one? Calling me a racist will get you laughed at.

PC is all in your head. Bigfoot is more real...and scary!

From what i have seen in the news, it can get you fired from work, boycotts of your business and sued into bankruptcy.

Says a guy who was just defending George Zimmerman trying to shame his ex-girlfriend by posting revenge porn of her along with her phone number on Twitter and claiming she slept with a "dirty Muslim."

Clearly you don't have any problem at all with public shaming as long as it doesn't contradict your political correctness.

I won't argue with that as I'm sure the same holds true for all of us, but I'm afraid the only way you'll see the difference in our positions is if tomorrow's headline reads...

"Radical Muslim Carries Out Attack With George Zimmerman's Gun"

**By the way, what's up with all the liberals whining about political correctness lately? Did Wellstone just release a new course or something?

There are a few in the democratic camp, that may not realize there are radical Middle easterners out in this world that don't care what political affiliation you hold in America, if you are an American, they want to see you die. This whole problem boils down to "who can you trust". To be compassionate is noble, but not to the point of being totally naïve....I like that old saying, "trust, but verify".

WARNING: The following statement may be too politically UNcorrect for some sensitive easily butthurt people. You may not want to continue reading, or you may want to retreat to your Safe Space before continuing.

Maybe, under today's circumstances, it is time we start off suspicious of certain people. And since Farook and Tashfeen The Terror Lady seemed normal then radicalized seemingly "overnight", I will be even more untrusting of muslims. I find the burqa types creepy to begin with, so if I get a new neighbor such as the Farooks, I WILL be alert to anything that tingles my spidey senses. I would probably report it anonymously though because....well, Obama says if you see something say something and that sort of backfired on those students and teachers with The Clock/Timer Boy incident.

The neighbor saw several different middle eastern men going in and out of that house for a couple of weeks, carrying packages, etc.

If the people living there were themselves of a middle-eastern race (or seemed to be) and/or Islamic (which they seemed to be) (I mean likely to onlookers and neighbors), then why would the above seem suspicious? Wouldn't it be reasonable that if they had friends, they might be similar?

And what does "middle eastern men" mean -- did they have signs around their necks saying "I am not from California, I'm from Saudi" or something? I'm thinking this person had reason to doubt her own doubt, and reason to hesitate on reporting it, even for that -- never mind the (as you've pointed out) significant likely danger to herself if she had.

(The kid recently who was reported for carrying a ticking backpack into school. I found it odd the media did no history search. I am pretty sure he is NOT the first kid ever to run into that -- the others just weren't Muslims. It wasn't victimization and racism until him -- it was reasonable concern before then. I could be misremembering this but I don't think so.)

I agree that the obsessive driving attention to "not making anybody middle-eastern or Muslim feel bad" just because the vast majority of terrorists (and all airplane terrorists) happen to officially be muslim (and usually middle eastern, though sometimes only in derivative race not nationality) is creating a good deal of harm in the process of it trying to help.

I totally agree that our country has in the past had real problems with racism related to foreign enemies, like the Japanese during WWII for example. I had some friends from Turkey who were muslims and lovely people.

But the obsessive PC thing to "proactively protect" all things muslim I think is causing a backlash-effect in a lot of the population. (Well, those that aren't just taking up the media's group chant.)

SOME amount of reminder would seem reasonable: sure. Yeah, you're right, don't create racism, thanks. But eventually it's just totally overdone, and one feels like going come on, if man hadn't learned to develop some "wariness" over patterns of recognition we wouldn't have survived even the creatures of the past forests. Acting like SOME degree of this "pattern-recognition" is somehow inherently evil is nonsense, this is a survival trait probably genetically wired into our species; we can be thoughtful and civilized enough to moderate it and mitigate it, but ignoring it altogether is probably not wise.
