The helicopter was found down and on fire in Montgomery County, Tennessee. No word on injuries or type of helicopter yet. The wreckage was found near the Cumberland River.

Thanks for the info. there is very little about it right now, I guess it's to soon to tell. Most likely just an accident. Sad nonetheless.

It's confirmed as an AH-64D Apache, with two on board. It's the third helicopter crash in the last month, two of which were Apaches.

Judging by the picture of the crash site, it doesn't look good for the crew.

This is the picture released by WKYT of the crash.

WTVF reported that the crash was fatal, but it hasn't been confirmed by the Army yet.

Thanks! I've been around for months. This is just the very first time I've posted.

I think it's strange that this wasn't mentioned in any of the facebook pages I'm on before I went to bed. Usually there is tons of unofficial gossip going on from wives.

Third helicopter crash over what area?

Are we taking just military chopper crashes or civilian too? And one last question, if it had of been three Apaches that had gone down, would questions start to be asked about the design/maintenance of all of the Apaches in current use?

They lost two crew members in an Apache crash in South Korea, four crew in a Blackhawk crash at Fort Hood, and now this one.

Your title ... referring " Downed" helicopter, conjures visions of RPG's and an attack on said helicopter.

How about - "Helicopter Crash - Awaiting Updates!"

Or "Military Chopper Down !" Awaiting facts ...

Enough of the doom trigger fingers ...

Call it as it is ... ATS motto is in order here .

As a result of this accident, and the other two, all active duty helicopter units are to be grounded for the next five days, on a safety pause.

If you would have bothered to read the news links that I posted you would know that it was their headline, not mine. Furthermore, I stated there was no other news of this at the time, hence the "Break News" forum.
Comprehension...it's a pretty important thing!
