Defend free speech by restricting free speech. Genius.
I was waiting for someone to notice that little nugget of hypocrisy. Star4U!

Thanks

What's worse is the fact that these are the people teaching the future of America this very second. Canada or Australia is sounding pretty nice lately.

So nice to see another high priced institution doing nothing to prepare the young for their future in the real world...

Is it any wonder we seem to be in a free fall towards 3rd world status...

how many young people have been coddled into adult hood only to find out real life sucks.. people will offend you and their is nothing you can do about it... people will stab you in the back and the best you can do is drink a beer and try to forget about it.

entire generation convinced they are special.. with no actual preparation for being in the real world.

Well, it's is fortunate that the Special Snowflake(tm) who was filled with "angst and fear" while scouring the UW campus for all manner of things "scary and angst inducing" was in Wisconsin. If ONE "sticker" can cause such trauma, imagine what could occur if Precious travelled south of the Mason Dixon line. Several southern US states actually have the Stars and Bars on their state issued license plates. Imagine what could have happened to little Precious if they saw lines of cars in traffic sporting the Confederate flag?

In the 1940s, American 18 year old soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy...their grandchildren now cower in fear of paper bumper stickers. All those Oklahoma earthquakes? Must be the Greatest Generation spinning in their graves for what their country has sunk to.

We had those Sons of Confederate Veterans tags issued here in Virginia...

Not anymore. - www.breitbart.com...

They recalled them because of the potential hurt feefees and now they are charging those who didn't turn them in with a misdemeanor if they don't remove them from their cars immediately even though they are already paid for, for up to two years.

As a socialist you don't want to forget history?
Or is it just you want to highlight selected parts that fit that narrative?
Do you think the Confederate battle flag is a symbol of racism and that the Civil War was fought over slavery?
94% of Southern whites didn't own slaves, in fact a higher percentage of free blacks owned them.
Irish slaves could be bought for less than half the price of a black slave.
Why don't we talk about the Irish genocide and slavery?
If 6% of the people in the ghetto commit crimes should we label them all criminals?

Tell me then what you disagree with about my post.

Of course not.

What parts have I selectively highlighted?

I don't care. Let people wave it all they want and let others be offended at it. I really don't care and find the symbology of it all to be "unintelligent".

Tell me then what you disagree with about my post.

I disagree that anything you said in the post I replied to had anything to do with socialism. But if an irrelevant cheap shot, if you ask me.

Just to have this on record somewhere, this is not saying anyone is banning the rebel flag, but this is that slippery slope we mentioned back when this all started and you blabbered about how "NOBODY WAS BANNING ANY FLAG!"

Keep watching. You may learn something.

I have no idea what you are talking about here. No one is banning that flag, nor are there any talks to do so. This guy removed the flag willingly.

Whom would you have supported if he didn't remove it willingly?

Just a placeholder, so in the future, when the flag is banned, I can point to this and say, Yep, we told you.

this slippery slope is getting steeper.

You're the one introducing the slippery slope. Not me. Though I find it interesting that you are creating a post so you can potentially laugh at me later down the line. Very mature there.

I think that is the most hilarious part about this. Even those of us that say it was his right to display the flag as he chose are still being bombarded with accusations that we want to ban it.

Is it just me, or is the lack of logic here gone to idiotic levels?

It was an honest question. Many seem to be siding with the snowflakes and justifying an inhibition of free expression because it may offend some little princess.

not laughing, speculating. being the fan of History that you claim to be, this should be a good experiment. History will prove one of us right.

If human nature didn't drive us to want to be correct, people like YOU or I wouldn't bother posting our opinions. Please keep that in mind in your battle for the moral high ground.

My intention was to state that a key platform in instituting socialism is a narrow and unrealistic portrayal of the past.
Mao did it, Stalin did it - both destroyed churches, burned books, fired or killed professors and intellectuals that dared to challenge their attempt at revisionist history.
Reason being it is key to blame some element in society as the cause of all their ills.

History can never prove me right because you cannot prove a negative. History can only prove you right by banning the flag. Exactly at what point would you admit that you are wrong here? 10 years from now and the flag isn't banned? 20? 30? But then a day after that 30 years ended, the flag could be banned and you'd be right. As you can see, there is never a reasonable point where you would ever have to admit that you were wrong.

I think you are missing the point here. Today, the flag is not banned. But two years ago, nobody really cared about the General Lee in Bubba Watson's garage. There is an effort, or movement pushing forward to erase the flag and other uncomfortable history from our memory. I hope to be wrong and this all just blow over, like many with your political leanings keep saying. But with each small tear shed by the easily offended, the pool is filling up. And I believe that one day, you will not be able to display the rebel flag for fear of offending others.

Living in VA I was not aware of this.
If a 2inch square Confederate flag can cause anyone such distress I can scarce imagine what a 4' x 6' flag would do them.
Scar them for life, no doubt.
Thank God this potential threat has been eliminated! [sarcasm off]
