So far the Turks are attempting to de-escalate the situation but Putin is not willing to it seems and still is making threats of obscure nature.

They need to be obscure because he cannot deliver on anything specific.

Putins in a tough spot not much he can do about the shoot down. However he can't appear weak to the Russian people wither. So we are going to hear a lot of threats until the Russian people forget and move on.

In all fairness to Putin ; he will arm pkk/pyd even more now .

Other then that , you are correct , not much he can do to Turks directly.

Arming any Kurds is bad for Assad so that would be unwise for the Russians unless they have just completely given up on Assad.

Local intel says 3 days ago the Russians have dropped weaponary to YPG training camp which houses 1500 Syrian Kurds at Village of Hafsin , west of Damascus.

This is the main training camp of YPG and most of the trainers on this camp came from PKK .

Russians have been bombing the town of Azez for last 5 days and YPG has joined the attacks yesterday.

70 civilians have lost their lives so far and fighting is on going .

On the other hand YPG is also fighting the rebels in Damascus centre . Today YPG forces attacked rebels at the Kastillo Passage , the only way into Damascus .
2 dead 13 injured so far and entry and exit to Damascus has been stopped as of tonight .

Russia has given up Asad already . Prior to plane incident , Turks and Russians were almost in agreement for a post Asad Syrian government .
