The rich and company's are also paying carbon tax, they don't seem to complain...

You would be shocked to know that we in Denmark are paying twice the tax than what others do, we are fine whit that, cause ti works..

No, it's because they accrue power and control.

Do you know who can't afford these? The little companies who might someday compete and people in the Middle Class who might someday aspire to move up. Those who always push these things do so because they gain from it by becoming richer or more powerful, not because they lose or are actually altruistic.

Don't get me wrong ...

I am in no way against things that keep the environment healthy, but I also think this is best addressed locally.

People in the area have a much better idea of how to address their needs than some bureaucrat off in an ivory tower somewhere looking at stats and trend lines.

Not all environmental problems can be addressed locally.

If our politicians were not all corrupt and handing all the money out to their friends I could see a real benefit to funding some innovation in the environmental industry. As far as I'm concerned the only things the fed should be doing is defense and I include defense of the environment in that. Sadly the environmental movement was hijacked by people who are socialists and against business many years ago and they continue to be the ones pushing the agenda. The rhetoric I dealt with getting an environmental degree was nauseating.

You were right in your first response. It's all about money and redistributing that money to pay back their political debts. Cap and trade is another way for power players to make more money while we, the every day citizens, end up paying out of our pockets. Everything the fed does ultimately ends up coming out of our pocket eventually because the power players will always get their cut.

It doesnt matter how much money u throw at this issue, since nothing realistic will ever be done about it.. Its all about making ppl feel bad/scared and make them pay more money for the elites. If they want to do something realistic that would start to work to ease up worlds pain, they would have to slow down things and work for equality, cutting down the cap between poor and filthy rich. How likely is that really?

Forget about Denmark for a second and think of the multinational companies that have relentlessly trashed the world for decades. Theyre not slowing down. But taxes keep going up.

Look,

The only thing they want to hear or will do is implement the Carbon Credit Scam / Cap & Trade. That has been the goal of Wall Street since the 1990's.

It is a multi Trillion $ money scam. It is the largest financial scam ever known to man and even Green Leftest know it:

Nothing else matters, they must get their scam implemented.

I do not believe cap & trade is on the table anymore. It will be similar to how Boulder, CO taxes.

I like your approach to this situation. Get pro-active. Turn the lemons into lemonade.
But for me, I think that the answers you seek to these questions have already been answered. I think preparation is underway, and has been for quite a while. Just not for you and me. Just not for all of us.
All that money? The money that the rich have? All the cash that goes missing? All the advanced tech that only dribbles down to most of us? Not for us but for the few.

I have been an avid SF reader for decades. I have avoided most of the shoot shoot bang bang intergalactic war kind of stuff and focused on the more truly speculative work of futurists. In the 60s and 70s and 80s and on. Over the years there have been so many novels written about our future based on present trends and knowledge. And one, that was very common was that not all of us would make it into the future. That the tides and trends of human history were coming to a boil in the near future and that the only way out for the race, the species, was not as a whole, as the whole could not thrive into the future where we all fly off into space on our space scooters.

But rather a concentrated group of elitely prepaired would need to hunker down for a period until they could re-emerge at some time down the line and begin again with the high tech of that farther future. In so many novels these were the GOOD GUYS. Now however when ever I see this concept played out in books and movies, they are always the BAD GUYS.

Now CoBaz, I do not know if any of this is what is happening. They haven't told me. But you know what? The longer I live, the more sense this scenario seems to make.

As for fixed ideas , we still have 12 degrees Celsius over here and it seems that this is not going to change soon , I watched trees with blossoms today nature is really different this year..

There are solutions all over the place - solar, wind, geothermal, end war (the worlds biggest polluter), consume less of everything, plant trees... ride a bike, bus or train. Eat local, in season, food. Lots of parts to the puzzle that YOU can do today, tomorrow and the rest of your life if you are willing.

What you appear to want is a magical fix - a disney "if you wish upon a star" fix - which show a remarkable about selfishness and delusion. Which has lead to this place in history. President Jimmy Carter had a good start to a plan based on science and reason - President Raygun in his first act through it out corporate shill that he was.

No, you got that wrong. That magic fix isn't what we want. It's what we're being sold. It's what we're being told we'll get if we only just give up more of more money and liberties to our so-called betters and let them tell us how to do everything and live.

Just let us take all of what you make and benevolently tell you how to do everything and it will be Utopia ... all of the world's problems will be solved ... you will have everything you need ... it will be peace, love, unicorns and your car will run on rainbows ...

There we go one of the first real ideas Embedded in a bit of sarcasm...

Cars that run on Rainbows... What are rainbows, water and light,

Solar powered Water Cars...

Solar powered Water Steam cars...

Hmm no one more step... Solar powered Salt water Steam Cars... there we go. Salt water boiled off with amplified solar (which we should have too much of) to make steam, The steam powers the Turbines, which in turn runs the locomotion of the vehicle. The Condensation then gathered in a separate tank this would be an almost fresh water product which can be exchanged at a water station for more brine.

Bravo Industrial Idea it Solves the fresh water shortage, the rising oceans, and the fuel problem all in one hit. We need more Ideas like this. Think of it if everyone got on board with this type of idea world wide ye-ouch.

You'll notice, I'm sure, that the very same solutions to the Global Cooling, Ozone Hole, and other climate crises are exactly the same as Global Warming? Central government under the UN or some other global governance body who will centrally administrate everything and redistribute all the wealth from rich to poor as though globally solving that inequality will somehow save the planet.

Yeah ... lets give all power and control to the UN. They will save the world. Right ? Isnt that where all this started ? The UN discovers global warming through one of their , I am sure, specialty groups. Then comes up with the world saving solution "Send all your money to us" . Remember oil for food , UNICEF years ago , ....etc. Nothing they touch solves anything. Know why ? They are not concerned in the least with resolving issues . Merely power and money

Someone else totally on track...

Their best solution is that we stop eating, breathing, farting and of course living.

there are no viable sustainable and economic Green energy Jeannie's in the bottle. None of the Ideas work in a way that equals what we have and do with fossil fuels.

Electric via hydro electric is the only one outside of fossil fuel that actually works.

Lithium batteries don't work and the larger they make them the more of a fire hazard they become. And they wear out after about 1000 recharges.

Solar Power couldn't dent the electricity needed on a daily basis and once again batteries and panels wear out.

Wind only works when the wind is blowing and you need too many of them to viably supply electricity and again the batteries wear out.

Green Energy solutions don't work

What I find most amusing about the Global warming thing... is so many people get upset over it and scream for the govt to do something... never seeming to pause and think.. the very people that have ridden us to this supposed point in the destruction of the earth are being asked to fix this.

Considering probably 95% of the cause behind destroying the planet is money... why do people think for one second that the very people that brought us to this point will actually fix things.. rather than twist it into a way for them to make a ton of money.

eta: by cause I mean motivation, companies dont clean up their act to keep the profits up... politicians dont push meaningful change because the companies have them bought etc...

I can't stop laughing!!!!

I gotta catch my breath.

Did you know that your personal compost pile in your back yard puts out more CO2 in a year than you car does?

Here is an idea I found on you tube that would be a step toward a solution, now note I know there are some major fundamental flaws in the idea to begin with, but enough engineers get on it then we might see it become feasible.

Maybe combine this idea with this one.

and if other flaws are found then searching for other things that can help fix them.

This is the type of ideas I am looking for, I know Government does not want to think along these lines it does not meet their control everyone thing scheme... but if there are not solutions presented then how can problems get fixed.

There are plenty of small and even not-so small things we can all do. But instead we'd rather sit around arguing on the interwebs about which "side" (whatever that is) is right and which is wrong while the polarizing machine, which is in reality the capitalism machine, keeps feeding on us all.

Also, this out today: Climate talks are underway, but saving the world might be harder than we thought

Probably largely due to all the hot air.

CNC news has a piece on a quote from a Canadian coast guard stating that the ice in the Hudson bay is the worst he's seen it in twenty years, an expedition to study global warming in the area has had to give it up, too much ice!

The UN tenet is to make things worse, what ever it is, that way there is always a hugely overpaid job waiting for the lucky few, just like family services always makes the family condition worse, to keep themselves in a job, big pharma destroys cures that do work, and kills the scientists to protect their profits, guess why the bees are dying? its one of natures oldest germ killers, can't have that being freely available to the common mass.
