Actually this is what it points out -

From this we can conclude that the jets were not actively trying to avoid Turkish territory, which is the Russian side of the story. Physics 3, Turkey 0, Russia 0.

Even though they could have they didnt and violated turkish airspace. as for warnings Russia used them all up in October.

Seven seconds into the airspace. Sounds like somebody just wanted to kill some Russians.

I don't know what's going on but Syria starts to sound more and more like Bermuda Triangle.
Everybody who goes in there loses their south. Things are bombed that shouldn't be bombed, things that have being bombed appear to be untouched, parties who should work together attack each other, not to mention that all the mighty armies of those superpowers involved cannot catch the little Isis mouse for years now.

The most weird things happen in there, and it became the most popular reality show these days.

WHY WERE ASTROPHYSICISTS LOOKING INTO THIS INSTEAD OF LOOKING TO THE STARS LIKE THEY SHOULD BE DOING!!!

Geez.

Why aren't more people of science and reasonable state of mind looking into it. So many just want to hear lies from governments.

By the way, note the 'physics' part of astrophysics.

Maybe they wanted the Russian murder spree to stop ?

Turkmen Civilians are being bombed to death by Russian planes . What is their crime ? Opposing Asad .

Russia is killing innocent humen beings in Syria while telling the world that they are fighting ISIS .

Nothing could be further from the truth .

That is what happens when many different countries try to bomb enemies in a country without actual communications between them.

It's just a mish mash of military jets flying around, I am surprised we haven't had more than just this incident happen.

The thing is the US could go in and lay waste to wherever ISIS is hiding, but when they hide amongst the civilian population it makes it difficult when your not trying to not kill civilians while trying to get ISIS.

Also remember Tom could never catch Jerry.

Just stop them from violating their airspace. The rebels killed the pilot, which i think is only fair since russia has been killing them instead of isis.

I imagine they could have achieved their goal without flying into Turkish airspace, but they did it anyway...the real question is why and who gave them that permission to fly through Turkish airspace even for 7 seconds...it wasn't Turkey?

Russia had been warned earlier in October when Turkey escorted a Russian military aircraft out of their airspace...another question is why would they even think about it after being warned already about the consequences?

Instead of looking up these guys should maybe be looking down. I'm more curious about what and where its target was. Since turkey maybe arming both or the other side too . It would seem shooting down a plane that may bomb one of your weapon shipments or a group using your land as a safe space would be more likely , than just a violation of air space. But trying to figure out who is lying about how and where the plane was shot down using physics..Avoids the question of what was it doing there.

Careful... what you are advocating against Turkey can be used against Russia elsewhere.

I agree with your opinion on this.
This should have been handled better by everyone. Notice Turkey is toning down their talk today too. Now Erogan is 'saddened' by what happened. Give me a break. Games games and more games

Let me get this straight....you think its fair to commit a war crime? By whos rules? Hitlers? The Geneva Convention says no! Seriously,if you were defenseless and para-shooting down,I am pretty sure you would want people to uphold the Geneva Convention yes?

Obviously there is more to this story that we don't know about.
The reaction is quite fierce, in fact, i've never seen Putin so mad.
He talked about a stab in the back which leads me to think that there was some kind of agreement between Russia and Turkey concerning Syria.
As for the downing of this fighter jet, yes Turkey has all the right to defend its border and airspace, but we also should keep in mind that Russia has no intention of doing harm in Turkey, hence, shooting down a Russian fighter jet because it crossed the turkish border for a brief moment is simply insane.
Especially the aftermath in which a rescue chopper was destroyed and a pilot killed.

Only the first protocol says no and not all nations are signatories. Unless you are ok holding people acciouuntible to laws they dont recognize?

The use of phosphorous, aside from illumination and smoke, is also a war crime. It doesnt seem to bother you that russia is using it in a prohibited capacity in syria. When you decide to stop playing the pick and ignore game then your post might carry a valid question.

I guess they took their cue from us don't you think?

news.bbc.co.uk...

2 wrongs do not make a right, and any country that does this is wrong. But we like to point our fingers at others and say how bad they are.My question stands and I am still waiting for your answer. I know you like dodging questions you are uncomfortable with, but maybe you should rethink some issues and your stand on them then.

I'm more likely to believe that the truth lies somewhere in the middle than one side over the other.

In a fluid situation anything can and often does happen in seconds.

Let's all just hope that something like this doesn't happen in the nuclear arena.

ETA: Is Turkey still hosting U.S. nukes under that NATO agreement? I've lost track....

Of course 2 wrongs dont make a right. Hypocrisy and denial is just as bad. At least the US admitted it, unlike some other countries we know. Thats the crux of my issue with Russia - their inability to own their mistakes.

I believe so yes. However the host countries, while trained to deliver them, are not capable of arming them. That resides with solely the US President.

Belgium is NATO, of course they want to sow confusion about it.

They want us focused on whose side the jet was on, that part is clear. The Russian jets are helping the Syrians.

So they are biased in favor of Turkey while claiming Turkey lied. Makes total sense.
