Yesterday I had to call the police on my employer just to get my last check.

Your wife sounds violent and unstable, waving guns and throwing acid, yet you defend her? Okay, urm, I think it more likely that police need to keep an eye on her more than anyone else in the OP.

That is exactly right.

Couple of things -

1) most people give a couple of weeks notice when leaving a job - it's, in my book, common curtesy and an attribute of loyalty.

2) A final check, outside the normal payroll cycle, takes time to prepare - often taking others away from their routine duties. I don't know where you are - but in many states an employer has 48 hours to complete the task.

And it's all your wife's fault for 'making you' get another 'real' job. Any 'real' job would understand needing to give notice.

Good luck on references, I hope the new job works out better for you.

Loyalty is different then lazy. And belligerent isn't going to help you anywhere. And blaming everybody else is just plain childish.

Good fortune.

You have my sympathy then.
Consider this, if it was a violent unstable man forcing a woman to take/leave a job, then instill fear in her that if the firm doesn't pay up immediately she phones the police scared that the husband will turn up angry with guns, acid, or blades, we would all be looking differently at the situation.
Sounds like domestic abuse and Stockholm syndrome to me.

...I find no amusement in that for the record. I hope your situation improves and your violent partner receives the psychological help she clearly needs before you or anyone else is harmed.

1) It was payday and they told him the check would be ready when he arrived.
2) They changed the amount of wage at some point without notice. It was a shady situation. In that case, I wouldn't give notice.

Reading comprehension is lacking here.

Did you not know what you were getting paid when you started the job?

Additionally it is not the responsibility of your employer to know if you are struggling to pay your bills.

I would agree that stood out for me as well

He said they stated $10/hr at one point and then changed it and changed something about commission.

Bleat as much as you like man, just more amusement for me.
You got paid, and yet are so emotionally affected by it started a rant on ATS and are upset that I think you are whining about nothing but lame first world problems.
Carry on, as I said, it is entertaining to me, but don't be bitchin' just because not everyone is shedding a tear for your heartbreaking story lol, some are feeling the love for you here though so don't be too upset that I think it was a ridiculously long rant for such a minor life story.

So glad you find my drama to be amusement.
Truth to be told, I value your contrarian views.
It makes the RANT more fun for everyone.

This was a RANT I remind you.
Most RANTS I see here are one giant wall of text.
At least give me some credit for not doing that.

Who says TROLLING a Rant is BAD behavior.

Not me. Thank you Mr Heyoka

There is something very wrong here in this society.

And you are a good example of what it is. Calling 911 because of a paycheck? That is RETARDED. It's laughable. It's like watching a circus monkey do a stupid trick.

The reason you can only get minimum wage jobs is because that's all you're qualified for, the bottom rung. If prospective employers knew how you rant on about stuff they wouldn't even hire you for those jobs. Your rants here speak volumes, the 'entitlement generation' that expects everything for giving out nothing. You're basically unemployable and you will, of course, blame everyone else and all of society for that small fact.

Change your attitude, get some schooling, and you can do anything you want. Keep your attitude like it is and you will go exactly nowhere.

Change my attitude?

What exactly do you think is wrong with my attitude?

You said "entitlement generation" is my problem.

How does that make an sense?

I had a check coming for the work I did.
I wanted to get paid on the day I was fired.
This is what the law requires, but when I ask
for the help of Law Enforcement, that makes
me a winner, some "entitlement loser" ???

Again, why?

Because privileged white people say so?
How very white of you.

Attitude is important.
Good attitude produces good results.
Bad attitude begets bad behavior.

This is the base facts of life.
Education or no, the fact remain the same.

We all have to deal with that.
Yourself included. And I suspect you are
no better then me, you just want to cling
to this idea that people can pull themselves
up from their bootstraps because the live
in the "greatest nation in the world"

Yea, right. What a joke.

People like you will continue to invest in the
system, a system of False Authority and EVIL
were GREED and FEAR rules the mind.

How is that working out for you?

Where did I say my employer was responsible to know
to care about my struggling to pay bills?

For the record, I never anything of the kind.

This is a start-up company with start-up problems,
they needed desks, phones, etc. At my interview
the room was empty. I knew there would be
challenges, but I stake a claim on the promises
and assurance I was given. Then the started to
check things and how I got paid was one such
thing. In fact, my buddy tells me he that were
messing with is check too, and he all most
walked out the same day.

This was exactly that I said, A CON-JOB.

I was among the first hired, and the date we
could start making money (get on the phones) kept
getting pushed back because they didn't a have the
fund available to purchase sales leads. After I tried
to hang in there as long as I could, I had to quit.

Look. They lied to me from day one.
I call this guy CON-JOB because it fits.

Moreover, another dude on the job is in worse shape than me
and he has two little kids. He has to give blood just to put
gas in his car... and when the light were turned off, he went
to the boss and they paid his bill.

I never ask for that kind of help, even though I need it too.
The point is, some on the thread call me an "entitlement"
person, but that is far from the truth. All I was asking for
was what I had coming--my PAYCHECK.

Would I go to jail over $99 bucks? Yes I would.
A hungry man is an angry man.

The fact is my life has been adversely effected
by these JERK FACED GREEK SNOTT HEADS.

I'm here to RANT about it.

Keep it coming my dear Heyoka.

No. All you were asking for is your paycheck RIGHT NOW!!!!! And when you didn't get it RIGHT NOW!!!! you called 911, a retarded thing to do. 911 is for life threatening emergencies. Your $80 paycheck does not qualify. It's like calling 911 because McDonalds messed up your order. Just stupid.

Big difference. And the difference is "entitlement."

In ANY job there is a pay "period" that has to be tabulated before checks are issued. The law says you must be paid within two weeks, not RIGHT NOW!!!!! And it would be quite reasonable to give them a week after the close of the pay period before they issued a check. In other words, if the pay period ended on Saturday, a check would be issued the NEXT Friday and legally, it would need to be issued until the following Friday after that.

But Nooo. You want your check RIGHT NOW!!!!

That's retarded in the first place and calling 911 over it shows you have no grasp on reality and what is important. You ought to be cited for that asinine behavior.

I truly hope you receive a better job, you deserve it and I admire you for sticking to your gun's, it is not the amount (which is pitifully low even by US wages standards) but the principle and it sound's like former employer was a real crooked guy.

The sad thing is they are no more crooked
than the people we vote on for President.

This country has a corrupt government
but it is just a reflection of the people
who elect and support that false authority.

They love. I can't help but hate it.

This world is upside-down and some
people want to keep it that way.

You have your facts wrong.

And it would seem a reading comprehension problem.

An emergency is knowing you might kill someone.
you may consider it a trivial matter, like my boss did.
but I let him know in no uncertain turms that was
in fact an emergency to me, and if did get the
cops down there, then I be the one in jail
with blood on my hands.

RIGHT NOW. I wanted my check night now.
That wasn't all the money due me, they could
send the rest by mail, I told them that. I just
want the check the already wrote out, that
was promised on our regular pay day.

They seem to thing, education will make

What planet are they living on?

Nope, I bid you best wishes after reading your back story with the wife who is quick to draw a gun, a blade, or rather shockingly, acid to throw around.
It is a challenge I would not wish for in an intimate relationship, and one I do not ridicule. Phoning the cops about a pay cheque is one thing I will criticise, and ridicule the rant, but being in a relationship such as you explain I offer you my best wishes.
I genuinely hope her anger issues do not harm you or anyone else.

I hope the same. That was one thing pushing me to do what I did.
The issue I find with her is FEAR. If the car seat isn't it the regular
place the she want to know if I was with another woman. Crazy.
I live with an insane person. I tell her no was in the car. She
then calls me a lair.... and we are off the races.

Yes, my life is full of fun drama like that, and this check from
the CON-JOB was just one of many--by far not the best. If you
want entertainment I have more... but why would I set myself
up for ridicule from the horses asses I've seen on this thread?
I'm not referring to you, my Heyoka, I like you. I was referring
to the Librarian in the White Ivory Tower--what a POOP HEAD.

Yes, my wife is insane. But then so am I. It seems to work
for the most part, until she crosses the line with me, and
then it is time to call the cops for real.

FEAR and ATTACK.
FEAR and ATTACK.

That is the world we live in. At this time in my life, my wife
is my teacher... but I'm rapidly reaching the point where I don't
need a teacher anymore.

A person has the right to stand up and say I will not allow
this abuse to continue. I will in fact do everything in my
power to stop this abuse from paying out in the future.
I will call whomever I need to call, and regardless of
the fall out, I will move forward without taking
any more abuse from this person I love.

I have that right. So does she.

Well, I would not wish to speak ill of anyone here, because I have a healthy respect for the membership of this website.

However, I think it is important to know the difference between true entitlement:

"I am capable of breathing air and signing my name, where's my cheque? Work for it? What do you think I am, an illegal immigrant?"

And merely asking for what you are actually due:

"Done my time getting messed around by your terrible company, and your awful lack of organisation and administrative acumen. Give me the money I worked for, and let me out of this God damned hell hole, you useless sack of over paid, under talented human refuse!"

But let's be absolutely fair here, unless someone has worked for a completely useless bag of crap before, they are not necessarily going to be aware of just how mind buggeringly terrible the psychological consequences can be, nor will they be aware of the very deliberate and nefarious things that really terrible bosses get up to in order to earn side money, while screwing the employees under them.
