We build the system’s roads, we build their monuments, we supply their banquets, we build and drive their limousines, we build their governor’s mansions, and we cut their grass and install their air conditioning and repair their roofs.

Among the problems that occurred during the first depression was the advent of technology. If you owed a restaurant in those days. You were placed in a position of firing the 20 or so dishwashers and replace then all with machines. Instead of 20 dishwashers you need two, to load the machine.
Instead of 150 thousand slaves to collect cotton. One in a position such a position as to own such properties. One could by far, pick as much cotton, with machines that needed only 15,000 staff to process it for distribution.
A substantive change.
If the powers that "be" were so interested in undermining the human position due to an effort in conspiracy for just that purpose?
Why would they allow us access to double our longevity and presumably seconds in communication of respondents that are interested in conversation?
Gasoline prices: We show prices for Italy from 24-Aug-2015 to 30-Nov-2015. The average value for Italy during that period was 1.61 U.S. Dollar with a minimum of 1.54 U.S. Dollar on 30-Nov-2015 and a maximum of 1.67 U.S. Dollar on 24-Aug-2015. For comparison, the average price of gasoline in the world for this period is 1.28 U.S. Dollar.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) cannot determine the exact amount of crude oil produced in the United States that is consumed, as refined products, in the United States. However, most of the crude oil produced in the United States is refined by U.S. refineries. The United States also produces other liquids that are used in the refining process or that are added to refined products. In June 2015, the United States produced an average of about 9.3 million barrels of crude oil per day, about 4.1 million barrels per day of other noncrude petroleum liquids, and about 1.1 million barrels per day of biofuels.
The United States exports small volumes of domestically produced crude oil, most of it to Canada, which may actually return to the United States as refined products. EIA is not able to track how much domestically produced crude oil is exported in the form of refined petroleum products.
Since May 2011, the United States has been a net exporter (exports were greater than imports) of noncrude petroleum liquids, refined petroleum products, and biofuels. The volume of net exports of U.S. noncrude petroleum liquids and products in June 2015 was equivalent to about 10% of the total volume of U.S. petroleum consumption in June 2015.

Essentially Gasoline is a dollar more in general in the U.S. than it is in Italy despite that fact that Italy produces about 1000 barrels of oil per day.
Meanwhile....

If a person is in his 50's today there is a good way better chance they will make to 100 than those who are in there 80's today. A person who is 21 today will probably make it to 115. Babies born today will likely make to 130
Life expectancy to drop for first time in 1000 years By Jacqueline Maley and Mark Todd March 18, 2005 Page Tools Australians could be eating themselves to an early death, with new research suggesting life expectancy will decline for the first time in 1000 years due to the obesity epidemic. A paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine predicts a decrease in life expectancy, which rose slowly but steadily last millennium. Experts say Australia will mirror the trend. The drop will occur when the current generation of obese and overweight adults reaches old age, and will worsen when obese and overweight children hit middle age.

success. As we’re living longer and our health system has gotten better, no longer are people dying of heart disease at age 50 so now they’re dying of heart disease later when they have other things like cancer as well,” says DuGoff. Whatever gains improved health care has provided may be eroded by the effect of these accumulating chronic conditions. “We need to reorient our healthcare system to care for chronic conditions. If we don’t reorientate ourselves in that way, the impact of chronic conditions on life expectancy could be extremely negative.”
Over the next 500 years, in potential of how long a human could live, could actually be incredible by current standards.
