You are saying Nato/USA is at fault for supplying/selling weapons. Well where do ISIS get their weapons from. Do we bomb Russia/China/whoever . It's not the point of who supplied/sold all the arms around the world, it's decades too late for that. The whole world has been supplying arms to the highest bidder or political bedmate for years. So should we now bomb the whole world. As I said before, it's the idiot with their finger on the trigger that's the problem

Well, are AK-47's not russian or chinese?

Chinese, I think ... and aren't there a lot of M16 look alikes as well, known as CQ? As well as the real deal.

So, how do you think these weapons get there? perhaps by US and NATO planes parasuiting these weapons in? ya think? or, perhaps by a much more suitable route, by land from Turkey.

Look at Gin's post. A 10 minute warning? Really wonder they could if the plane was only about 20 seconds in their space.

Is it possible that the 10 warnings happened while the Russian plane was being tracked on a course heading for the Turkish border, that it would be fired upon if it crossed the border?

Just offering an alternative view.

I'm ignorant of the way things like this work. But if I'm a Russian pilot, how do I know what the Turkish guy on the radio is saying? How do they know what frequency?

Isn't it obvious?

The Turks decided, to provide "support" zones in Syria in accordance with US desires. The Russian was flying inside one of these zones, and it was being warned to "leave" the area. The Russian plane didn't respond, because it doesn't see it this way ...

This is my guess ... because the plane is downed in Syria, not Turkey. So, even if the Turks say they warned them ... they, at the very least, shot the plane down while leaving their airspace ... that, in and by itself is an act of war.

I think the US is trying to create "safe" zones inside Syria, for the rebels ... and to challenge Russian aviation superiority over Syrian airspace.

It's an act of war ... Turkey is being used as bait ... Russia has one of two choices, fight or go home ...

PRESIDENT OBAMA AND FRENCH PRESIDENT HOLLANDE HOLD JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE AT 11:30 AM ET

First of all no Caps and second, so what? Presidents do that from time to time, you know..

Hollande met Cameron yesterday, Obama today, someone else tomorrow and Putin Thursday. This is about gaining support for French action based on the Paris attacks - completely unrelated to this thread.

I'm sorry I doubted this, because it sounded so crazy when I heard it in the past...but, in light of recent events, it's clear to me now.

President Obama and SoS Hillary Clinton DID create ISIS. I am ashamed of my President.
They knew all along this would happen...and they have been protecting ISIS all along.

I just read the declassified DOD report from this June:

I would also like some clarification on this, I'm not saying I believe either side of this, but how are these things generally handled? I'm sure some of our aviation experts can chime in.

Even if that airspace is a 5 mile buffer zone inside syria that nobody recognizes but turkey?

Not sticking up for the Turks here necessarily, but I think we need to remember that Russia could be up to more than one thing here. For all Turkey knows the Russians could have been testing Turkish air defenses for intelligence purposes under the guise of pursuing ISIS in neighboring Syria.

The Russians might have been 'born at night, but they weren't born last night'.

Then Russia should have listened the first several times it was warned about violating Turkish airspace.

That may be true but your going on here say.

It also doesn't matter. There isn't a single european, US, Canadian country who would have handled it that way. They would have been escorted out by planes.

It appears to have now been confirmed that 10 warnings were issued - sorry, can't provide a link, I'm watching that on the TV. The source is via the Pentagon as it happens for what I just heard so depends if you believe them or not at this point. Frankly, I think you have made your mind up and if one of the countries you quoted was next to what is effectively a war zone and a hot, loaded fighter jet is over your territory, not sure you would be so polite as to escort it out.

Not sticking up for the Russians, particularly ... but it's been stated quite clearly, that the US has been demanding "safe" zones for the Rebels.

And buffer zones, work both ways ...

Well this is an odd bit of news

#breaking 2 russian pilots are alive & ankara is talking to rebels for their release say officials.

There was no need to shoot it down even if it was in their airspace - what harm was it doing?

I also don't believe it's as simple as whether it was or wasn't in their airspace, politics is behind it and Turkey are pro IS so that needs to be taken into account.

Whatever the case, shooting down pilots while they are in a parachute is despicable, they then stood around chanting Allahu Akhbar, and then complained they hadn't set fire to the bodies immediately.

Same old nutters I'm afraid, and if Putin decides to even the score we could be on the way to WW3 here.

I'm with Putin he is the only leader of a major power that isn't cowed by political correctness.

So let me get this straight. Turkey shoots down a Russian fighter jet near the Syrian border, the parachuting Russian pilots get shot by ISIS.

Turkey is responsible for aiding and abetting the death of Russian military personnel by the hands of terrorists.

Well NATO, I hope you knew what you were doing when you fast-tracked Ergodan ruthless and clearly stupid regime.

No, you didn't get it right and here you show the joke - ISIS are not known to be in that area at all, but rebels opposing the Asaad regime are....... make you wonder doesn't it?

It is called 'waffling'.
It is a bit more acceptable for lying politicians to waffle when they are on the campaign trail.... but a leader takes a stand, whether they are right or wrong.
I will not hold my breath waiting to see leadership from Washington right now.
