NATO already discussed what would happen when russia violated turkish airspace in october. Russian knew what would happen and chose to ignore it.

You're like a broken record. We know what you're trying to say. We are saying it was downed in SYRIA, we are saying that if Turkey issued warnings to the pilots they clearly LEFT TURKEY and was subsequently downed in SYRIA.

I believe had Russia responded to the warnings and identified themselves they would have been escorted.

Turkey was most likely looking for any pretense to down a Russian jet and Russia handed them one.

So we should ally with a country that’s passively supporting terrorists to fight Russia that’s fighting terrorists?

do you know how messed up that sounds?

God man! do you want WW3 over something so messed up?

Turkey should NOT be facilitating terrorism! They should be left to fend for themselves!

KIll shot ! Really ...!

They were skirting the border - was it within the 5 mile buffer or an actual incursion ?

And did the kill shot occur outside of the briefly incurred intrusion ?

Human lives here folks ... !!

Russian Su-24 went through Turkey, actual incursion. Kill shot happened in Syria after the Russian jet left and still refused to respond.

Ah, but as we have already covered in this thread - Outside of Turkey you do not need to respond. The fact is, they left Turkey.

the warning was not "leave Turkey", it was do not enter Turkey, who are you ... Russia refused to reply and went into Turkey anyways.

One of my first thought's about France teaming up with Russia in the ISIS fight was that France could have been used on the northern border .This is going to bring a new dimension that I am sure Putin will know where it belongs on the board and how to use it .Prayers for the pilots and their loved ones ........

Fighter jet shot down after 'violating Turkish air space'

Blah, blah, this and that 'territory' and 'airspace'. The "Turkish" General Dynamic Fighting Falcons downed a Russian attack aircraft that was targeting NATO forces on the ground near the Turkish border and you can bet they were defending the Insurgents near that border with Turkey because Turkey, as a member of NATO, is violating International Law sending in enemy combatants (terrorists), armaments and supplies across the border to attack the Syrians.

Who's supporting International terrorism?

Yes, and then left Turkey and was downed in Syria.

Had a turkish military fighter jet violated russian airspace, after being warned of the consequences of what will happen if it continued, you guys would be making the same argument im making, saying russia had 4every right to down the aircraft.

Russia violated turkish airspace.
Russia was warned.
Russia violated turkish airspace again.
Russia was warned.
A Russian drone violated turkish airspace.
Russia was warned.
Russia violated turkish airspace and was shot down.

Again this is on russia.

The question must be asked - due to such a small window of incursion - when was the warning actually issued?

Maybe the Russian pilot was by now oblivious to any Turkish hostility ?

Civilian law and military rules of engagement are not the same. Since you brought it up though yes, if your neighbor was armed and constantly came on to your property and you took it as a threat you could defend yourself, up to shooting him in the back as he fled since his actions posed a danger to the community at large by his actions.

turks decided not to use patience & play the game right. They playing the game wrong. Supposing russia is fishing, wrong way to go about it imo. Wouldn't it been better if turkey shot it while inside presumably turkey? Why wait till its back in syrian borders? Makes no sense

This thread is moving so fast, it is hard to keep up. I have just seen a clip on Sky News of the track of russian jet crossing Turkish airspace. This was released by Turkey apparently. But it shows the plane crossing a stretch of land about 2-4km wide.
How on earth can Turkey say it issued 10 warnings for a plane that only went across its territory for only a few seconds ?
Or did Turkey shoot it down in the buffer zone that they put up around its borders ?

news.sky.com...

This is my question as well. Is that little jut of land part of the buffer zone or actual Turkish airspace?

How do you know Russia would respond by shooting down a Turkish jet? Is Turkey currently flying near Russia trying to eliminate a terrorist threat?

No its on Russia AND Turkey. No one else.

This is between them and thats its.

Russia should not be violating Airspace and Turkey should not be supporting terrorists!
