Trump is encouraging people to defend themselves and others against violent assaults, to subdue and remove the threat. If the attacker needs manhandling to remove the threat, so be it.

That's not what Trump said.

He said that maybe he should have been "roughed up" because he was screaming, not because he was attacking anyone.

I will tell you that the man that was -- was I don't know you say roughed up, he was so obnoxious and so loud, he was screaming. I had 10,000 people in the room yesterday, 10,000 people, and this guy started screaming by himself and they -- I don't know, rough up, he should have been -- maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.
"

He said it on national television. You can spin it all you want but it's very clear what that means.

As you have mentioned Democratic rallies have protestors, black lives matter has interrupted their rallies...but they don't get the heck beat out of them when they do it. Do you actually think it's OK to beat up protestors even if they are annoying and disruptive? That is fascist state shait mentality. Escort them out, don't make big deal about it and move on. Trump yesterday while the guy was getting beat up wasn't saying stop it he said to "get him out of here" as they kept beating hi. Scenes like this is why Americas think conservatives are racists big booted rednecks. It proves the stereotype and anyone supporting that type of violence on a protestor deserves for their rights to be taken away.

It beats having the liberal stereotype. Remember, liberals don't let people interview or film their protests.

So we have Ben Carson comparing refugees to dogs and now Trump supporters beating down black protesters. Glad to see the Republican Party reaching out to minorities

We also have a Democrat supported racist group called BLM segregating non black students from public spaces, calling white students "filthy white fu%$s" and leaders of that group calling for violence against whites.

nothing like a few highly committed Trump brown shirts to beat up any protestors.....hmm, I think someone use to have that done in the beer halls of Germany some decades ago

Considering the hundreds of years of slavery and discrimination, I'd be angry too. And lets not forget all the peace loving muslims and law abiding migrants that have been painted with the same brush for years; they have a right to be angry too.

I don't agree with religious zealots or their beliefs but I do stop short of calling followers of a certain faith retarded-that is the kind of Krusty brand logic that will continue to divide us. Be anti PC all you want but there is a difference between being anti PC and being an @$$hole.

Alucard? Is that you?

Ya I guess I also did some assuming thinking it was a public event, but I am a bit radical on the right to protest.
I may be wrong but think you should be able to protest a private event, you don't have the right not to be removed, but the right to say what you want.

And when you are removed not by a mob assaulting you.

If you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. If you're being disruptive, don't get shocked when you get tossed out. People didn't attend the event to listen to some windbag cry about the lives of one particular ethnicity. I'm glad they kicked him out.

So this one man kept Trump from speaking? All Trump had to do was ignore him while his security team whisked him away, but Trump loves drama.

I was responding to another poster's response that protest is a right, and I am referring to the growing pattern of using the umbrella of "right to protest" to actively disrupt the event and attempt to shut down any speaker with whom you disagree. Unless you haven't been paying attention, BLM is only taking pages out of book that is much longer, they are only the latest chapter.

I referred to Trump's response earlier as the proper one. People who seek to do this in an attempt to stop a speaker should be thrown out. It is inappropriate to use protest as a means of censorship.

I think if anyone is being disruptive, they should have to go. I'm sure if we were ignorant enough to start a group called "Right lives matter" and base it on a fabricated lie, Bernie and Hillary and O'Malley wouldn't be so kind to the righties that were disrupting their speech, nor would anyone else on the left be kind to it.

Sanders should have told them to get the hell out? Sanders is for the people and more importantly, has been an advocate of civil rights, namely black lives, so of course it would have been against his character to act like Trump.

Sanders isn't for the people.

Trump condoned the violent actions against this man

And people still want him in the White House?

This guy is a fascist prick

Jackboots anyone?

Regardless of whether he was disruptive , violence against him is not acceptable and trump should have immediately spoke out against that

I dislike this guy more every day

I have deep disdain for BLM. but Trump just gave them more ammunition

" look what white racists did!"

Trump needs to go

How do you miss the man coming out of nowhere throwing a punch, getting in a kick, all the while keeping his hands up as if he's ready to go fisticuffs? The protester of course would look ready to fight and that's because he's being attacked. I guess you're only gonna see what you want.

Here's another video, thinkprogress.org...

Even Trump owns that the protester was roughed up.

Trump on rally protester: ‘Maybe he should have been roughed up’

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Donald Trump said Sunday that the protester who interrupted his rally at a convention center here on Saturday morning was “so obnoxious and so loud” that “maybe he should have been roughed up.”

Mercutio Southall Jr. — a well-known local activist who has been repeatedly arrested while fighting what he says is unfair treatment of blacks — interrupted Trump’s rally and could be heard shouting, “Black lives matter!” A fight broke out, prompting Trump to briefly halt his remarks and demand the removal of Southall.

“Get him the hell out of here, will you, please?” Trump said on Saturday morning. “Get him out of here. Throw him out!”

At one point, Southall fell to the ground and was surrounded by several white men who appeared to be kicking and punching him, according to video captured by CNN. A Washington Post reporter in the crowd watched as one of the men put his hands on Southall’s neck and heard a female onlooker repeatedly shout: “Don’t choke him!”

As security officers got Southall on his feet and led him out of the building, he was repeatedly pushed and shoved by people in the crowd. The crowd alternated between booing and cheering. There were chants of “All lives matter!”

Maybe the protester learned a valuable lesson in annoying people that aren't there to coddle your wants and needs.

All I need to hear about this is that this morning Trump said that "maybe he should have been roughed up."

This man has moved from being a joke to being a threat to the nation.

And it occurred to me last night that despite despite all these GOP bozos claiming to be defenders of Christianity I have yet to hear one call to prayer for all the Syrians who are real refugees or anyone asking for prayers for peace. Nothing but throwing gasoline on the fire and playing right into the hands of ISIS.

A true American that's not afraid of offending someone. That's why Trump has so much support. You wanna get mad at someone, get mad at obama and other progressives that have nearly forced the approval of Trump. All he had to do is offend a few people and not care, he was an instant hero. I can only imagine how bad that must suck for the left, knowing that there is a front runner out there that isn't afraid to say no.

Yes and I'm defending free speech

I don't agree w them one iota , and I damn sure don't agree that a person should be beaten for their views whether I agree w them or not

I don't compromise my principles just because I may not agree w someone

If anyone is ok w these actions perhaps they need to re evaluate what they actually believe

The right to freedom of speech stands and no one especially a potential head of state should be ok with physical violence against those exercising it

Full stop

Not credible? Why because it's not a conservative site? Yup, that's why...

In any case, I only posted TP because of the video, it was the second link I posted and quoted I am referring to, a Washington Post reporter who saw the whole thing.

Again, you only see what you wanna see. Lemme ask you, are you a conservative? Do you support Trump?

Think Progress is as bad, if not worse than Mother Jones and Salon. Those are nothing more than entertainment sites.

I like a guy that speaks his mind as much as anyone. I speak my mind. It's refreshing in politics. The issue is that Trump keeps coming across as mean, hateful and spiteful. I'm not sure that's the guy I want as president. Do you? Someone petty like that? Or do you want a true leader?

1. He didn't get beaten
2. The scuffle had to do with his actions, not his views.
3. Do you know anything about this guy? He's a scum bag.

The alleged victim is not credible because objective video evidence does not support his allegations.

The alleged victim is not credible because he has also alleged they called him the n-word and monkey which CNN reporter Diamond himself has said he cannot substantiate.

As regards the larger issue it doesn't matter to me how the fracas started.

Trump said on national television this morning that "maybe he should have been roughed up."

He's encouraging his followers to engage in violence towards other Americans.

I've never heard anything like this in 50 years of following presidential campaigns.

Good. It's their right to not have to put up with being disturbed. Hopefully this serves as a lesson as what not to do at an event that won't have you being coddled and massaged to make you feel better about being who or what you are. Gotta learn to suck it up and live your life like everyone else has to do.
