Indonesia may order F-16s

Lockheed is confident that they have a good chance of selling F-16Vs to Indonesia, despite them being in negotiations for Su-35s. This would extend F-16 production into 2018, and give time for more sales of both the F-16 Block 60 and F-16V. Currently Lockheed has one remaining order for F-16s, destined for Iraq.

Indonesia operates members of both the Su-27 and F-16 family. Their current F-16s are Block 15OCU and Block 25 aircraft. The older aircraft are being upgraded with APG-68(v)9 radars and new computers and avionics. The F-16V is equipped with the APG-83 SABR AESA radar and improved computers and avionics.

BEIJING – A possible contract from Indonesia may extend F-16 manufacturing into 2018, says Lockheed Martin, as the company works on filling an Iraqi order that may be the last for the biggest-selling fighter in current production.
Although Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said in September that the country had chosen the Sukhoi Su-35 for its next fighter order, the deal has not been signed. The F-16 remains a contender, according to Randall Howard, Lockheed Martin’s business development director for the type.
Indonesia is considering the fighter in its F-16V version, which includes the Northrop Grumman APG-83 radar, a sensor with an active, electronically scanning array.

No. That's long been a rumor but they don't.

The F16 is still of my favourite fighter plane ever build, our country f16's are being switched with the f35's soon . I wonder if it will preform just as good as those f16's always did..

Yes and no. As a close in fighter no. Ground attack and long range fighter it will exceed the F-16.

well then it would be good deal to change this fighter for the f35 I guess . What the motives are to be part of the f35 plane I don't know but i can guess it has to do something with Russians who regularly testing our airspace ?

That plays a role. The ability to strike on day one of a major war plays another one.

No, a lot of the systems installed are supplied by the country during building of the aircraft. Take Israel for example. They're installing a number of IAI EW and warning systems in their F-15s and F-16s. Norway has developed new weapons, which needs new interfaces, for their F-35s.
