Just because nations have disagreements with each other on global issues does not mean anybody is looking for war. Russia is far to weak to take on either NATO or China. Russia is working on slipping out of Ukraine and is ready to get out Syria already as things have not gone as well as hoped. Russia has enough problems and no interest in war with major power. Now Belarus and Stans they might expect Russian land grabs as the drift away from Russia but, those will be fairly minor.

China while wishing to be the dominate power in the South China Sea is not willing to push the issue, in particular with the US, India and Japan working together. China is simply by curse of geography surrounded by powerful threats and simply can not afford a major war with its most important trade partner. And while on one hand China and the US are at odds in the South China Sea at the same time US and Chinese warships are exercising together off of Florida. US China joint exercise off Florida

And while the US and its large collection of allies dominate the planet militarily, they also have no interest in a major war. The US if more worried about a Russian collapse than a war. And the US has seen China avoids do anything to upset the US. A major is simply not likely, less likely now since the late 1800's

While in theory what you have explained sounds completely logical, we know that the world doesn't work like that and there are people in positions of power pushing for WW3.

I feel that maybe there are some in power in America that believe they need to maintain this military industrial complex due to the enemies they have created over the years. With such an aggressive and oppressive foreign policy poorly hidden behind the media propoganda it's enemies will not rest until it burns.
If America decided tomorrow to turn to a policy of pacifism do you not think those it has kept down will not rise up and take this as a sign of weakness?

I'm just trying to get a normal sense of reasoning behind this madness.

I think you are correct in a sense, but these constant wars have been aimless, with no exit strategy. The military just goes in and bombs some stuff, kills some people, then what? They linger for years getting blown up by IEDs? That's not a military strategy, that's called "stalling" until the pentagon can cook up the next dastardly enemy that the media can then sell to the sheep.

It is not the military, it is the politicians and the liberals that are the issue. Just as in Vietnam, the military can find the target just fine. They are just not allowed to destroy them. Why? because it might offend this group, or that group; or it might not look good on TV to do that; or many other issues.

Look at the ROIs we have been forced to work under during the past few years. In reality you are only allowed to fire back once your dead; and then only to scare off the attackers.

In reality war is a dirty, nasty thing that no one wants to do. When you dumb it down with these "humanitarian" rules all you do it drag it out and make it hurt a liitle bit less, but over a lot longer time.

I wonder what the chances are that the majority of vehicles could get a virus that makes them not run at all?

If a country was planning on defeating the usa then that would be their first strike before landing.

I really do wonder if the wh has thought of some of this?

An EMP attack fries everything until it is re-produced with stone-age tech.

Won't do a thing to most military tech. It is hardened against EMP. of course all you Xboxs and play-stations are toast.

Basicly, if you want peace, prepare for war, trouble is, some nut thinks all the 'stuff' should be used before it becomes outdated...

Is the US preparing to start WW3 or defend against enemies who are provoking? Yuge difference.

We need to go to a more defensive footing with regard to our foreign policy, IMO. Not a Ron Paul withdrawal from all foreign bases kind of footing, but certainly one where the US is much less of a bully in the middle east. The US has a power structure that includes the military industrial complex that loves to fight perpetual war and make lots of money. That has got to stop.

Um, it's clear. The US has been 1 out of 2 major aggressors over the past 60 years. With the fall of the USSR, the US is number one.

Can't disagree there.

The Navy testing in Los Angeles, Vandenberg AFB unannounced has only scared the American public, not China, Russia.

Looks like you are the one blowing the situation WAY out of proportion. First, the Navy launched a ICBM out of a SUB off the coast of LA not at an air-force base. Its been how long since the Navy even tested a Trident 2 ??????

Russia has been shooting off new Nuclear missiles every month in their epic rapid build up to war, not the U.S.

The U.S. has been building a new class of aircraft carrier for YEARS. It takes 9 years just to build one, just so you know! The last bomber was the B-2 and we only have 20 of them so they are working on a new one of those as well to compete with Russia's vastly superior Sam systems and updated fighter inventory.

The U.S. is finally waking up its nuclear forces after Russia has been spouting crap about their going to target everyone and everything over the dumbest crap while building a massive stockpile of NEW Sub, ICBMs, Intermediate Nuclear missiles and complete across the board warheads for all of them.

If anyone has been preparing for WW3 it is Russia by a long shot. Till the U.S. gets off its duff and brings back the Strategic Air Command I will not be happy or feel safe.

Right now not one U.S. bomber has a loaded nuclear weapon in its bay. The Russians talked the U.S. into unzipping its fly and right now it is still down, just waiting for a swift kick to the jewels from Russian subs off the coast that would cripple the U.S. and only leave our subs to respond.

If Russia found a way to find and track them, you bet your golden goose they will strike given the opportunity because we would only have 8 minutes to decide to hit back before their nukes took out all of our Bombers, Silos and their command & control. Obama would sit on his hands to long and we would be screwed.

Right now besides restarting SAC, the U.S. needs to start a crash program to make all of our bombers nuclear capable again. Spread them out around the country instead of having all of them at a few bases. Build a new Mobile ICBM AND Intermediate range system that is hard to find and take out. Give our current bombers updated cruise missiles that can penetrate very quickly into a heavily defended airspace so the bomber crews do not have to risk themselves and the aircraft.

That's how you bring Russia and China to its knees once and for all without firing a shot!!!

Meh. I think the war machine needs more monies to keeps it's edge in the long run. China is closing the gap in our military superiority a little more each year. In order to keep a buffer to prevent a war with them in the future we need think tanks and congressmen discussing scenarios and allocating the necessary resources to keep the game in our favor. No war anytime soon.

This wont be a WW II fueled with patriotism. All the politricks have raised a generation of very aware people whom will be torn between wanting their country to win and seeing any kind of change. In an all out scenario there would be draft riots. People will want the sons of the 1% to fight in the first wave.

Putin on the other hand, even if his country has its fair share of liberals, he can count on his patriots.
edit on 13-11-2015 by Merinda because: (no reason given)
