huge fireball falls onto orange county california

that thing was flying towards the land as it was breaking up... it was not that far from the shore and it was admitting a light under the bottom of it that lit up the water... i was on a packed beach with bonfires, everyone was freaking out bc it was not far from the coast... there were also alot of planes in the sky whcih is normal and they were making moves to make sure they wouldnt get near the thing..it was cloase and if that was a test that was #ed up

It had a very long, beautiful blue, wide trail behind it that lasted for some time.

Dont they have to give airports and such notice of testing missiles in the area?

There's a thread on traffic into LAX being rerouted to avoid coming in over the coast. So yes, and they did.

so anyone got any word on how a missile shot south of newport could be seen in SanFran... How big is this missile?? anyone have a pic of a missile at night that has a BLUE TAIL?

An SM-3 is capable of shooting down a satellite in orbit. It's designed as part of the Aegis BMD system, and is more than capable of going high enough to be seen from San Francisco.

If, as Zaphod says, it was an SM-3, it is a rocket capable of leaving the atmosphere. That means that its exhaust plume when illuminated by sunlight would be visible over a great distance.

and they leave blue tails? and its normal for them to come down and go towards a populated area like LAX beffore they break up lol im not feeling good about this... that thing was lower than planes and heading towards the land

Seeing as they closed off the air traffic corridor west of LAX I would say it went exactly where they intended it to, yes.
