guys i live here.. i was on the beach with my fam, i saw the whole thing... i dont know what it was but we ran off... anyone got any info???

I've seen several videos on Twitter. I'm not so sure that was a fireball. One report said it ascended from Pacific.

No clue what it was but reports from all over Cali.

Edwards doesn't launch missiles. Vandenberg does. Edwards is for aircraft.

listen that thing went from soutb to north then it turned towarda the beach expanded and burned up as it was flying towards the coast.. towards the land.. wtf

That's the only missile launch facility on the West Coast. So if it was a missile it came from there, unless it was something like an SM-3. So if it didn't come from Vandenberg, and it wasn't an SM-3 or similar, it wasn't a missile.

One of the other threads has a local news source saying its an offshore naval test fire.

Lot's of people claiming it had a blue streak behind it. Here is a recent photo I found.

If this was a test fire of some weapons system, is it normal to have the test projectiles fly over populated areas?

Perhaps this is the result of a failed test?

Not sure why you think it was "over" a populated area. The images and videos I've seen seem be be at an angle, not overhead.

An assumption on my part to say it's path was over a populated area. My apologies.

Is it safe to say that this is not a common sight to see in the areas in which the videos/pics were taken?

Made me wish I lived in LA...for a second.

that thing was flying towards the land as it was breaking up... it was not that far from sure and it was admitting a light under the bottom of it that lit up the water... i was on a packed beach with bonfires, everyone was freaking out bc it was not far from the coast... there were also alot of planes in the sky whcih is normal and they were making moves to make sure they wouldnt get near the thing..it was cloase and if that was a test that was #ed up
