Do you really think Russian use of nukes as a deterrent would have worked without the U.S. using it in WWII?

Like it or not, the use by the U.S. has been the most effective deterrent of them all....

It's example has been a deterrent for us all.....

Nukes would be pointless when your fighting an enemy that is close in with Assads forces and population centers. Most of the people killed would not be ISIS. This story makes zero military sense. As Russia has learned just bombing ISIS or the rebels in general does not do much unless you have something on the ground to follow it up. Assad and his allies have failed to make advances of note. Nukes would do nothing but, kill lots of civilians and make large parts of Syria unlivable and turn every Syrian and Muslim in the World against Russia.

Youre speaking of one against one. The BOMB (as in one) on ISIS (as in a hundred different locations).

And just how many locations and how many nukes do you need? ISIS is everywhere there...mixed with women and children.

If they blew up all those civilians and all those locations...and they are everywhere...you still wouldnt get ISIS...not all of them.

Not only that, but Nukes are a 'last resort' option, a kind of trump card if you will.

Once you have played it, you have nothing further up your sleeve and unless Russia thinks it can take all of ISIS out with one or two bombs, then it makes no tactical sense because ISIS will just go mental - like ants do if you disturb their nest.

I'd put Raqqa at the top of the list for a tactical strike if they were considering it though (I am pretty sure they're not) because it is the unofficial capital.

He was basing it on comparing flight data with that of the downed Air France flight near South America.

Further evidence makes that early conclusion unlikely - either a fire on board, a bomb or maybe the tail section failed causing explosive decompression are the likely cause.

MANPAD (shoulder launched missiles) cannot take the flight out at 31,000 feet.

Up the ranks on both sides of the conflict comes the children left...and war continues because we and them killed their relatives, cities and countries.

Horrible results and prob. a long standing continuation of conflict until there no life left on the planet.

is there not another live thread with russia claiming to have a standard bomb that causes the same damage as a nuke without the radiation,i would suggest if putin was gonna bomb them he would use this.

Considering how many ISIS leaders (including number 2) the US has killed in the last year that would make no sense.

Every southern Christian I've come across in the last few years here in the good ole South USA have been for us to turn the whole Middle East into glass...so at this point now what difference does it make?...

Russia have never been very cival when it comes to hostages and terrorism. Usually Alphas are sendt in With the task of showing no mercy towards the hostage takers or their families.... or terrorists. They wil Level a whole building to kill them all. Russians are brutal for a reason towards these People.

If Russia wants to use a tactical nuklear weapon because of this act, it is not because they want to whipe out IS. The nukes would be used to send a very clear Message to anyone who wants to try this again or support People who would think of doing this again. The nukes is nothing but a Message of what the costs is going to be for such an act.

But my gues is if this was done by terrorists, the Alphas will be sendt in. And i would feel very bad for these terrorists Family members where ever they live, because they will all have to pay dearly With their bodyparts. The Alphas are known for sending bodyparts from Family members of who ever commited the terror acts. This have worked more than once for the Russians.

The difference is, those in the States aren`t being flooded by Muslim refugees, so it`s easy for them to say it, if it were the other way around they would think different.

Not much of a point for Russia to turn the ME into glass and make the place unlivable for the refugees to hopefully return to their own country sooner than later, let alone create more refugees.

A mega-fatal mistake to think Putin is another Obama.
