Halloween Asteroid 2015 TB145 Live Viewing Tonight

Here's how to see asteroid 2015 TB145 tonight live online:

The webcast starts at midnight eastern time (4:00 UT). 2015 TB145 will fly by earth at around 1.26 times the distance to the moon, though due to its highly elliptical and inclined orbit, some are speculating that it's not an asteroid at all but rather a dormant periodic comet! Even if it is a dormant comet, any meteoroids it has left behind over the last couple of centuries are expected to miss our planet by about 100,000 km, but if it does produce a meteor shower it will have radiant in the constellation Eridanus and will best be seen in Asia on Halloween.

Just caught the end of the broadcast. Why did the asteroid had a teardrop shape in your footage, like it had a tail?

Broadcast is still up on my end. It's a teardrop shape because of how this camera processes the video signal. It averages previous exposures into the current one to reduce noise and the asteroid is moving faster than the refresh on that. I didn't notice any tail on it during the first phase of direct tracking of the asteroid, but now I'm letting it trail for a bit so that you can see how fast it's really moving.

OP, is it viewable from the Southern UK do you know?

If so, any idea which direction to look at and what time? Might even drag my dusty old scope out for it.

Unfortunately the optimal time to view it has already come and gone. You can generate ephemeris for it with JPL's Horizons tool.
