Zaph , your the man to ask . How many planes would a ship such as this be able to support if they eventually decided to go this route . The planes would be f35s one would hope . Also in this situation would this be a good or bad move given Australias coastline and geography .

She's pretty small for a ship of this type. She's 757 feet long and 27,500 tons displacement fully loaded. By contrast, the America class just entering service is 844 feet and just under 45,000 tons.

With her dimensions, I'd say probably somewhere around 15 F-35s if they go for a mostly aircraft load with a few helicopters.

The 2nd ship was handed over from BAE Systems to CASG earlier in October. Both are now in Sydney.
