BAGHDAD - Three suicide car bombs, including one near the Iraqi prime minister's party headquarters, killed at least 16 people and wounded 39 others
Monday, as insurgents pushed forward with their campaign to derail the national election. Near the headquarters of Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's
party in Baghdad on Monday as insurgents campaigned to disrupt a Jan 30 election. A suicide bomber was headed for the prime ministers party but then
rammed his car throught a checkpoint and then collided with a police pick up truck and exploded, black smoke was seen and vehicles where on fire. The
blast killed two police officers and wounded 25 people Interim prime minister Ayad Allawi wasn't inside the headquarters when the bomber tried to ram
through a nearby police checkpoint. The second explosion took place in Balad, about 80 kilometres north of Baghdad, when a man exploded a car, killing
four Iraqi National Guardsmen and wounding 14. At least six Guardsmen were killed in a roadside explosion in a third attack in Saddam Hussein's
hometown of Tikrit.
