Injured deer walks into emergency room of New York hospital

Such irony in this story...

A deer apparently hit by a car brought itself to a New York hospital and walked into the emergency room.

Hospital officials say the deer walked through the automatic doors at the entrance to Strong Memorial Hospital's emergency room late Monday afternoon in Rochester. Officials say the deer made it about 20 feet down a corridor before staff members corralled it.

The sheriff's office had two deputies that happened to be at the hospital when the deer wandered in. They and hospital public safety officers strapped the deer to a gurney and wheeled it out to the parking lot.

One of the deputies put down the deer.

I feel so bad for this deer! So ironic that he finds his way into the emergency room, only to be put to rest.

I know it's not realistic, my heart wishes they could've put him into an ambulance (he was strapped to a gurney anyway), and taken to a veterinarian.

On the SARCASTIC side of things... See what happens when you don't sign up for Obamacare???

Wow! Can't believe they killed the deer. That is wrong in so many ways. They could've taken it to the Vet. Or at least back to the woods. SMH

What a great story all the way up until the cops shoot it..

The operating room became a butcher shop for a couple of hours as the patients waited till they processed the deer.

Did they not even attempt to help it? Ah # you America, # you. Every day i hate you more and more. Guess the deer didn't have coverage in that hospital district.

When I was a Medic in a little town outside of Ft. Hood, a deer got hit by a truck right around the corner. The local podunk Cop named (I swear I'm not making it up) BJ, pulled out his 9mm to end the poor things suffering only to graze it taking an inch long strip of flesh down to the bone from it's skull.... Here let me help you..BANG!!! Oops, here I'll help you again, I SAID SIT STILL AND ILL HELP YOU AGAIN! (Get it it couldn't hear because of the point blank gun shot that only added injury to injury)
I felt so safe working a scene when BJ had my back!

If the deer made it there and they had to coral it, he wasn't in a beyond saving condition. ....

It won't be long till humans go into an emergency room and are asked:

"Do you have insurance?"

No!

Quick, get the gurney, take um out back, get the deputy, he'll know what to do.

Don't ya just love it. Poor deer.

WTF??? The only thing cops know how to do in this country is kill stuff. What f**king barbarians. Law enforcement should know that killing this deer isn't even their damn job. In fact there is a whole other department dedicated to these types of situations. It's called Animal Control and they work with the PD. Apparently these cops need to learn something besides how to shoot a gun.

I am sorry I read this story- can't believe it apparently never crossed their minds to have a vet at least try to help the animal. I hate people

I think they could have done that much, not that a vet might have done the same thing and more likely they would.

Perhaps it was by coincidence, But I live to believe animals are much more intelligent then us stubborn self centered self hating humans give them credit for.

So someone tried to bring doe into the hospital to pay their bill and they did not readily except the bucks. BCBS only.

Despite this being a crappy true story, that actually makes a funny joke.

The deer opted for the most humane place. If he had gone to the zoo, they would have fed him to lions. If he went to a vet they would have euthanized him, so he went to a hospital where they care for everyone…

They couldn't take it to a vet?!?!? If they were not willing to work on it, I could see that, but automatically putting it down? That might have been necessary, but we'll never know now. That's seriously sad.
