We're getting a bomber, boomer and missile. Plus new gravity bomb and SLBM. And 'extending the life' of the warheads (*cough*really, new*cough*).

We've been resting for a long time and the world has largely caught up and the old missiles/planes/boomers are getting hard to take care of.

Normally what you should do is watch the share price of the companies involved, but comparing the 5 day prices for Lockheed, Boeing and Northrop doesn't show anything that can't be explained by other factors. This one is tight...

Awaiting a 3 line press release stating Boeing/Lockheed won, an already released conceptual drawing and no further info with white knuckled anticipation.

I'm going to bet on NG - then place a side bet on a possible LMB protest... Zero insider knowledge, but there has to be contractual / pre-award reasons for some of the delays. If NG were the folks that had tech issues during testing, but then corrected them as is rumored, then I bet the CRB was shoring up a protest defense.

Then again I could be totally wrong. Either way, hopefully we see something today...

Lockheed design with a few Boeing goodies thrown in, Boeing with the bulk of the heavy manufacturing, and NG getting a large percentage of the sub systems and assemblies.

Heh protests.

Expect that to happen. And if it does it will drag things out for a while.

At this point they need to dole out slices of the pie to all of them.

I don't see why they can't JV on some projects.

I'll put my dollar on NG, the build knowledge of the B2 and the purchase of Scaled Composites. Make me think this could be a cost reduced version with new toys and room to grow.

I've been wondering if the project who ever with will go military style engines or a COT's engine, as it's keeping subsonic high bypass gives you a nice cost saving.

On the other hand Lockmart have the F35 in build and know the tricks it has up it's sleeves I think a platform of B2 size covered on sensors would be awesome but the would mean $$$$ and I'd bet more than the magic £550 million a go :-)

I like Northrop, and have had many fun projects with them. But I think they'll be a Lockmar division eventually.
