So, then - Trump is your guy, right?
Or Fiorina, who habitually doesn't get her facts straight? Who fell for the contrived PP tapes? Etc?

Talk about "nominal Christians". LOL!!!!!

Anyway, I get it. You're not going to deal with me.
That's fine.
Wise decision.
No point in trying to actually communicate and find middle ground. None at all.

Your argument actually makes the case that to be a Democratic
politician one can not be a Christian.

That's a really nasty thing to say.. To me it's not about Christianity.

It's about the Constitution and Separation of Church and State. That's all it is. I have my church. I have my country.
They are separate. I want to keep it that way.

Is anyone here surprised that a certain brand of Christian thinks they can deem who and who is not a member of the group?

And, I should say "Christian" here, because, even as a mythological figure, Jesus' teachings on crap like that were quite clear.

Enough said about bitterness and judgmental bile.

No, *sigh* only that the state replaced the church and ruthlessly oppressed or rigidly controlled it.

The state can have no competition in such a country, not God/gods certainly.

What would he say about Bernie Sanders, I wonder?

What's your hunch on that?

Or, sorry - I mean, your verdict; since you know so much about Democrats and Jesus and everything...what's your verdict about how Jesus would feel about Bernie Sanders' ideas?

With Sanders you are barking up the wrong tree.

1.) He is irreligious, so he doesn't/wouldn't care.

2.) He is culturally Jewish, meaning his parents were Jewish and he was raised to Jewish traditions. He believes in the messages of Jesus less than even a Muslim would.

So using Jesus and Bernie in the same argument in an attempt to browbeat Christians is just wrong on several levels.

Now I have no beef with the Jewish. They're fine with me, but at least go back to the OT scripture or Torah to start your pro-socialist religious propaganda in terms of Bernie.

The question wasn't about Bernie's religion. It was What would Jesus say about Bernie Sanders' ideas? Jesus' teachings are FAR from the teachings of what people call "religion" today.

No, when the discussion has devolved into the religious beliefs of democrats, the question does touch on Sanders and his beliefs.

I find it humorous that we're judging someone who was not raised at all in the Christian belief system, but in the tradition of denying Jesus by Jesus.

Surely if your command of the OT is good enough to use it to sling stones, then it's good enough to support socialism?

*ducks back into door of meeting while chewing an antacid*
He has SAID, publicly, that he is spiritual, and guided by The Golden Rule.

You missed that memo? Not surprised.

buh bye for now.

Yeah, I bet some of your best friends are "the Jewish."

I've seen you move the goalposts of an argument before ... but this is simply a monumental effort.

You didn't just move the goalposts ... you're trying to make someone play basketball with baseball rules and asking why it's not better football.

Stunning.

I wasn't aware civilization had worked out such complex government systems in that era.
He was a preacher and the son of God, not a politician.
K?

K?

No, not really 'K'.
He was a beatnik hippie who eschewed the establishment, encouraged people to "sell all of [their] belongings and give them to the poor", hung out with condemned men (pun intended), lepers, and prostitutes and pitched a fit at the temple to throw all of the userers out.

You're just now knowing this?

He was a preacher

Maybe so. He taught the Golden Rule, and the Buddhist stuff of not worrying about tomorrow.....I don't really call that "preaching" - I call it "enlightened".

and the son of God

Mmm. Two ways I could respond to this.
1) No, he was a human who had an advanced understanding of human behavior and tried to teach people to treat each other with kindness and decency.....

2) Only insofar as we are ALL children of God.

, not a politician.

No? Okay, then, what difference does it make if a "politician" says that he is a "Christian" but he rejects ALL of the precepts proferred by Jesus?

Would it be plausible to suggest that a politician should be motivated by The Golden Rule, and ONLY The Golden Rule? The one universal concept that ALL people agree on?

That a person can be perfectly capable and experienced enough to lead REGARDLESS of their "religious affiliation," belief in whether or not Jesus was God, or lack thereof?

One day when you're bored, look up Plato's treatise on "Philosopher Kings."

That's in Plato's work The Republic. Have you ever heard of Plato? Are you familiar with his stance?
What about Thomas Paine, and Thomas Jefferson - are you well-versed in their stances regarding religion?

Just asking.

Sanders seems to think people have inherent value, hence why he believes medical care should be something we provide our people. I think Jesus would agree that in America, with all of our wealth -- it's a shame and sad we're the only 1st world country not to do so.

About the economy and stuff? I don't think Jesus would care. Those are the concerns of man, and man's world -- Jesus would be more concerned with the kingdom of his father.

As should we all. If you are religious, instead of rotating the tires on your BMW, you ought to be preparing your after life vehicle. You can't drive that BMW to the gates of heaven anyway.
