Why am I not surprised.

Someone get him in here so I can pull the splinters from his eyes with a rusty pair of pliers.

Ok I was just kidding.

I would have used clean pliers.

Agreed Harborfreight has them on sale for about $200. I bought one and it rocks. It has already spilt 100+ cords of hardwood and still going strong.

It's small, light and electric with no rubber hoses to worry about.

I have split some really big pieces too.

And you may want to toss in some eye protection too.

I have tools from every company that makes them. Harbor Freight has some highly discounted prices, and what I have found is some of their stuff is crap. That said, some of their stuff is really good. And they have a great warranty.

I really like them, and have enjoyed buying there. Every month or two they have great sale prices. So I stay on the mailing list.

Got a very well built transmission lift for 30 percent off list, and list was a great price on its own.

Nor was I wearing gloves or hearing protection. And on another day, GASP my arms were not protected because of the short sleeve shirt I was wearing!

Horrible of me, as I could have ended up like the millions of one eyed lumber jacks back before safety glasses were not invented!

Normally for projects involving high velocity objects (metal cutting/grinding, shooting, breaking glass, etc) I do wear safety glasses.

Splitting wood.....splinters will be at such a low velocity that my normal glasses would stop anything hitting them

great video, dig the music which will be in my head every time I wield the axe this year!
YOu have the Gorilla Dump Cart I see...good move. I think the wheel barrow was invented during a wheel shortage or something. I have the same cart, and it's awesome.

And you have an axe, and wood...
I think you just need a beard....It will make things easier.

Every year I intend to get my winterizing done early. And every year I'm scrambling around at the last minute! Lol! I really should be outside cutting fire wood right now....but here I am on ATS!

OK, your thread inspired me to go cut firewood....and now I remember why I HATE chainsaws. 30 mins getting ready to use it. 5 mins of use. 20 mins adjusting the chain. 5 mins of use. Another 20 mins of adjusting the chain. Then 15 mins of trying to get it started again. 5 mins of use.
