Nibiru or Niribu? How have I been reading this wrong for all this time?

I know the whole Nibiru/Niribu thisng is a bone of contention here but I have seen this mystery planet discussed thousands of times over the past few years and have only just realised that it is Nibiru?

at first I thought there must have been some schism regarding the actual name but when I googled NIRIBU it auto corrected to NIBIRU by default.

I have never come across a name or word that I have got wrong for such an amount of time so any insight would be welcomed.

Anyone annoyed about the very mentioning of this controversial topic will be even more angered when I suggest this may be another example of the highly revered " Mandela Efect"

It's always been Nibiru for me. No Mandela Effect here.

I think a lot of folks kinda default to Niribu as it tends to roll of the tongue a bit easier.

No, mental auto-correction of a written word (or even phrase) to the form you are expecting to see is a very common psychological phenemenon.
I used to read some journal which had a regular column called "A life in the day...", and noticed the author once complaining that people were misquoting it as "a day in the life". Because that's the phrase they were expecting to see.

It should be spelled No-biru as it doesn't exist.

As I said in the OP I have never had the issue with other words.

I have mispronounced words that I have only ever seen written down but never managed to misread a word or name and then see and use it hundreds of times over several years and at no point notice?

I think Disreali may be right as NIRIBU seems more natural.

There is no schism.

The spelling is Nibiru.

I realise that as I said in the OP.

I was just curious as there is a thread right now calling it NIRIBU and that is where I discovered I had been getting it wrong all these years.

As had the OP in the other thread, I was wonering if there was a reason that's all.

Now you're doing it again.
Yours, Disraeli.

P.S. I do it all the time. When I was writing about Revelation, the number of times I had to correct references to "The Besat" and "Christains"...

Lol, Spelling is a different matter with me.

I had a nasty head injury a few years ago and although my ability to speak and read is very good my spelling never quite recovered.
